Tried the 3 day method at 2.5 years old and it was a COMPLETE DISASTER. Everything turned into a power struggle with increasing accidents.

At 3 we used a type of "gentle encouragement" slow and steady approach. We kept things really low key and let her call the shots. She was praised with her successes and after a really rough week then a transition week she was 100% trained (pee, poo, public). I think the key was not getting stressed and keeping things no pressure (aka the complete opposite of the three day in our experience lol)

I didn't do bottomless, but we didn't really leave house for about three days. )I've heard for boys it might actually be better to wear undies because they feel the wetness). We had an extremely successful first few days, but lots of accidents after, especially at preschool. We are basically 6 weeks in and I'd say he's basically pee trained, just a few sporadic accidents. But poop is another story. Poop prizes worked really well for awhile, but I have to watch him and predict it rather than him initiating. So I'll update again when that's done! (We also moved and started a new preschool so lots of changes.)

We did 2 days of bottomless at home and then my mom continued at her house the following week. After 2 poop accidents he got it and hasn't had an accident since. Pee has been a different story. He will *mostly* go on his own but he still "dribbles" a lot in his underwear. And if you ask him if needs to go his answer will always be no. I feel like we are in potty training purgatory. He mostly gets it but nearly 3 weeks later we are still having some accidents. Also, he will not pull his underwear down so anytime we are at home, he is bottomless, which is totally frustrating! I'm wondering if he is just being stubborn or is just not 100% ready. He needs to be potty trained to start pre-k in a few weeks though so we much push on....

We did bottomless. I don't know if that's an official method. We stayed home during a heatwave by the fifth day she was initiating every potty visit on her own. We had one pee accident on the third day, but she still got 90% of it in the potty. She was exactly 2.5. No accidents since.
Good luck. Potty training is no joke.🍀

Ds was a couple months shy of 2.5, we used a loose three day method (we still did outings and disnt do bottomless all the time because it was still chilly around here). He picked up pee right away, poop a wk later and then night trained himself a couple months later (when we finally decided to switch to undies for him).

He's a few months shy of three now and he goes pee in the motn and during the day himself, he just needs our help w wiping!🙌🏻👍🏻👊🏻

ETA: he had pee accidents both in and out u if the home the first two days but we stuck it out and it clicked for him on the third day. He'd been showing readiness signs for a couple months.

What method did you use to potty train? How long did it take? How old was your LO?

We are going to follow the Oh Crap! Potty Training book over labor day weekend and LO is almost 2.5. I'm just curious what worked for others and how long it took! I want to make sure I have reasonable expectations lol.
