I liked being pregnant in winter, then once I gave birth the weather started getting really nice again and it was nice to stroll around with a newborn while on maternity leave for the months of March-June. We are a mixed Kiwi-American family. Children start school on the day (or nearest) to their 5th birthday. If they start school earlier than April/May then that year is considered their first year and they become year 2 the following year. But if they are born after that, they have that year as year 0 and the next year as year 1.
