For a long time I had a standing weekly date with a friend-- one week her house, one week mine so everything was done at least every other week. Hitting the big stuff every other week (bathrooms, floors, dusting) and filling in with general tidying in between kept us in decent shape.</p> <p>I read somewhere (fly lady maybe) that a good goal is to aim for 20 minutes away from company ready on a day to day basis. I hated hearing how our place wasn't clean enough, and then my mom would start cleaning. Now that we live with them for now, I clean because I am not working much so I need to contribute somehow. I am much more organized since we had our son because I have to be. DH and I are working on getting a house of our own, so I am hoping we can continue to stay organized. </p>
