@Mrs. Oatmeal: That's awesome!! We're going to try that and the Merlin's Magic sleep suit--and we'll watch her carefully in the latter to make sure she can't flip in that, too. I really hope one of them works. :)

@mfa_lady: we switched to the Zipadee Zip when she started rolling in her swaddle. It allows too much freedom for some babies, but it was a great transition for us. Took maybe 3 days for her to adjust.

@SweetiePie: You're a life saver! Wall me your email and I'll get you my info right away. I can pay for shipping, too, or whatever you want. Haha. (Can you smell the desperation?)

@ChelseaRose: Yes, exactly this! Flipping herself is more like it. It's like she's flipping BECAUSE of the swaddle. So glad to hear the sleep suit wasn't too hot for your little guy!

@LBee: Good to know that the sleep sack wasn't a problem heat-wise. Thank you!!

@mfa_lady: My son runs super hot too (to the degree we couldn't use the Halo swaddle thing with a onesie underneath it or he would wake up soaking wet with sweat). We just put him in the Merlin in just a diaper. He was fine temperature wise!

@mfa_lady: Sounds like my son. He wasn't actually rolling over per se, but it was more like flipping himself over. We used the Velcro swaddleme ones with him. My friend who's son runs hot also used my merlin suit for awhile and I don't think it was a problem. I think they just put him in a diaper inside and with my son he usually only wore a short sleeve onesie. They make one now that's cotton instead of fleece, which might be a better option. I know they are expensive, but we ended up getting a second one and they were well worth it for our family.

@mfa_lady: I'm home Monday! I have 2 of them just sitting Ina plastic storage bin. I'll wall you my email address ans you can send me your info. I'm glad someone else can use them!

As far as warmth, they are pretty breathable. You can read more on the Merlin website, but they say that If you're Ina warm room or they get warm, just put them in a white shott sleeve onesie under the Merlin. No need for a full footed sleeper.
Our guy gets warm too but it was never an issue!

@Littlebit: Little rascal is right! I cannot believe it. What a complete stinker!

@Littlebit: @blackbird: @SweetiePie: @ChelseaRose: @LBee: @LBee: Sounds like the Merlin suit or Zipadeezip would be our best best. I'm going to have to try them!

@SweetiePie: I would LOVE to try your Merlin suit. Thank you! I have a Love to Dream, so we can do that in the meantime--we tried it before (because of how much she hated the swaddle) and her hands were a bit of a problem, but I think we can survive a week. Haha. Let me know when you get home! :)

I actually don't think she could roll in the Zipadeezip either--I wish I could explain how she does it in the Woombie. It's like because she can't break out of that thing, she uses all the energy to get this crazy momentum with leg kicking/baby leg lifts, ha! If she wasn't so balled up, I don't think she could get the necessary momentum. So maybe I'll try that, too, and see what she likes better. I worry a little about the Merlin because she runs so hot, but we'll see how it goes!

@SweetiePie: Mom guilt... it's freaking exhausting. We took it off and he was the same way - he was like "FREEDOM!" Now he rolls all over the crib and sleeps with his booty in the air. I agree though that the Merlin was clutch at the time and fit our needs. I probably hung onto it longer than needed too.

@LBee: exactly! We were in The Merlin from about 3 months to 4.5-5 months after he kept breaking the swaddle at 2.5 months. (Love To Dream in between that). He couldn't flip but he kept bringing up his legs and rolling to the side but he couldn't stay on his side. That's when I thought that maybe he really wanted to sleep on his side or roll so I took it off during naps. He immediately started moving all over the place and actually sleeping better. He is a total side sleeper now! I loved the Merlin and it really helped when he still needed the benefits of a swaddle but was too big for it. But I feel guilty sometimes that I maybe kept him in it too long and he was ready to move and I was keeping him locked up. Haha. Ohhhh, mom guilt. :-)

@SweetiePie: Good call! Yah, my son couldn't flip in the Merlin for forever... I think it's so stiff? No idea. And even when he does flip, it's a process - he goes to his side and then starts rocking back and forth and then flips to his stomach.

@LBee: I suggested the Merlin because it makes it very hard for them to flip.
So, zipadeezip if she wants him to be able to flip, Merlin if she doesn't
:-)
ETA: I'll clarify that in my original response!

Strong baby! My son was just able to roll over in the Merlin at 6 months - and it took some MAJOR effort. I vote Zipadeezip!

@SweetiePie: I think you can't do Merlin suit + sleeping on tummy - or at least I hope so, because otherwise I Merlin weened for fun, haha.

My son flipped over while swaddled at 3 months. We started using the Merlin suit and did that until he outgrew it around 6-7 months and started naturally sleeping on his tummy.

Zipadeezip if you want to allow him to flip (though they are hard to find, I have a friend selling them for $15 each) OR Merlin Magic Sleepsuit if you want to keep him stationary and mimic the benefits of a swaddle for now! We put our LO in the Merlin from the swaddle and he didn't skip a beat! I have two of them if you want to try it :-) but I can't send till next week since I'm currently out of town. Or you can order on Amazon and get fast shipping if it's urgent!

she can roll and sleep on her tummy on the zipadeezip!

DD is almost 4 mo and she hated the swaddling very early on (prob out of it by 2 mos). I alternate her now between the merlin and the zipadeezip... Some nights she hates the merlin so I have to switch her to the zipadee like last night.

I wouldn't move to just sleep sack yet.. Mine def still can't handle true freedom!

DD is 12 weeks old. She's crazy strong, and moves around in her crib like a maniac from flailing her legs around all night. She's been in a Woombie because it's the only thing that kept her calm enough to sleep, but....this morning, she started crying and when I went in to feed her, she was FACE DOWN on her mattress.

I know this means the Woombie is out. But, could we still do an arm-up semi-swaddle? Like the Zipadeezip or Love to Dream Swaddle? Do we have to move to a sleep sack? Should we just put her in there in her PJs? I'm pretty much feeling like we're never going to sleep again.
