olive cannot do pants buttons by herself so it's leggings and elastic waist jeans.

All her shorts/jeans have zippers and buttons and a back elastic. She's never had any issues going potty solo at school.

@mrsf: for K, we do those same jeggings as @freckles: mentioned. or just regular leggings. she is actually fine getting jeans down for the most part; it's just the re-buttoning that can be difficult and her old preschool wanted her to be able to do everything herself.

Our favorite pants have been the yoga style pants from Kohl's (Jumping Beans). She's worn them for a couple of years now and I already picked some up for this year. She doesn't find jeans to be comfortable. And I don't like the look of leggings unless it's with a longer shirt/dress.

They wear really well and are cheap!

http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-2112292/jumping-beans-pieced-yoga-pants-toddler-girl.jsp

They also have some heavier pants in a similar fit, but being in the south, we don't get to wear them very often.

@MrsF: yup we got those! They're fitted below the knee but okay to pull down. The reason I avoid them is that the daycare workers don't help them with zippers/buttons. one time I picked her up with her fly open and she just looked like a disaster.

LO does leggings mostly, and some regular pants. She can do the zip part herself, but usually needs help with a snap-button still. Leggings are definitely the easiest though!

We also have some very soft jeans with an elastic waist that she's fine with too. Can't remember the brand, I think I got them at Nordstrom Rack though.

@Freckles: like these (looks like jeans but says leggings)? or do you think these are too skinny? I'm over-thinking this, obviously :silly:

My son struggles pulling up his pants so I do all elastic waist pants. They make kids pull up their pants by themselves, no help.

@Truth Bombs: I love the elastic waist jeans from Gap! They're like leggings but thick like jeans - love them.

I prefer to stay away from anything with buttons or a zipper, and definitely skinny jeans. I prefer leggings and sweatpants.

I just bought some elastic waist jeans at Gap for the fall. But really, LO surprises me with how well she does with pants that button. She has a few pairs of jean shorts that have a zipper and a snap and she can get them off no problem, she just needs someone to snap the button back together for her after she's done, which her teachers haven't seemed to mind. (For reference she's 2.75 so still on the young side)

Leggings and elastic waist jeans? My son still can't wear bottoms that zip/button, so I've always had him in stretchy waist pants and he could manage just fine after potty training.

We potty trained M at the beginning of the summer and she's been wearing all skirts or elastic waist shorts that she can pull up and down herself. Now she's starting preschool and I need to do some fall clothes shopping. Could your 3 year old get regular jeans up and down themselves or did you do something else? I'm fine with helping her here but she's going to need to be more independent at school.
