I guess I'm glad it's not just me, but the whole stretch from dinner to bedtime. It's not like I spend much time cooking at all, but the toddler get whiny and won't listen, the baby gets super fussy and just wants to be held and given my full attention, I'm tired and impatient and snap at the toddler, who responds with a tantrum... And usually during this time my husband forgets to tell me he is running late. When the toddler is finally in bed and I just have to nurse the baby to sleep it's like I can finally breath.

Then usually Dh waltzes in when everything is calm, toddler in bed, baby winding down, and he's like, why are you so frazzled?? 😡

After school till bedtime. Getting dinner made and eaten, keeping the baby happy (which sometimes means feeding her), making sure the toddler doesn't pee/poop himself (potty training), cleaning all the bottles and pump parts and getting them ready for the next day, bath and bed for both, and packing lunches for us.

@irene: We had a lot of the same slow bedtime issues, and I recently put together a routine checklist for DD (3.5yrs). Basically, as each step of the routine is done, she gets to put a checkmark beside the picture (which she loves), and if all is done with a minimum of crying/whining, then she gets her books and songs for bedtime. When she starts dawdling or saying "but I just have to..." I tell her to go tell me what she's supposed to be doing from the checklist and it usually resets her to the routine.

I'm at my very worst first thing in the morning, when E is at her most energetic. Not good. But that comes second place to the stretch between getting home and starting the bedtime routine - E is tired and cranky and I have very little patience for it because the time seems to drag!

Dinner, I feel so rushed going from work, straight to pick up the girls, and then home to cook. DH always arrives just when dinner is done, so I'm trying to play with my girls who i haven't seen all day and cook at the same time.

Pretty much getting home until bedtime. Trying to get dinner made and eaten, baths for both, and getting them both in bed by myself, when all I want to do is sit down and drink a glass of wine. And even after I get them down I still have to do housework. I'm happy if I manage to sit down and watch a show to decompress by 9.

The whole 3 hours after we get home... it's go go go go go from the time we walk in the door. But it's the last hour or so before bed that wears me out the most.

Definitely the stretch from when we get home around 4:30 until bedtime, with special significance to the 5-5:30 time when the hangrys set in.

Special points for rainy days when he can't go outside and run around or has a bad nap. Yesterday we had both. It was awesome. :bummed:

Dinner. Either cooking it or attempting to eat it.

LO2 is usually fussy around this time and LO1 causes a lot of mealtime stress because of his sensory issues relating to food.

Morning getting the kids ready to leave the house for school and evening when I'm getting dinner ready. Sometimes LO2 fights and refuses to leave the house. Then he also gets clingy at dinner time and wants to eat when food isn't ready yet.

Dinner time. I am usually solo when cooking and someone is always having a meltdown or needing my help in the bathroom. I also enjoy cooking, so it becomes frustrating when the LOs are constantly interrupting.

After school in general. When DS (4 yrs 0ld) doesn't take a nap (which is all the time), he gets very cranky when I pick him up at school - screaming, crying, tantrums. I never know what to expect. Even if he had a good day and was fine when I pick him up, the part he does EVERYTHING SLOWLY also drives me crazy - he takes 1.5 hours to eat while rubbing his hair, feet with food (ack), then he wants to play and not clean up, sometimes take 20 minutes just to take off his clothes to the bath, everything is basically a drag out. So it cuts into the book time and I would say sorry but since you took so long we have no time for books anymore. Cue screaming and crying. When are they going to understand that if they do everything quickly they have more time to do something they like, such as reading books at bedtime?

4:30 - 5pm. I have to pack up the baby and go get my son from daycare. The baby generally cries the whole time because he hates his car seat, the other toddlers in the class swarm us shrieking "BABY BABY BABY!" and poking at him while I try to get my son ready to go, he gets upset on he way home because I can't hear what he's saying because the baby is still crying - not fun.

from the moment we get home to bedtime is stressful for me. Especially when I'm solo-ing. It makes it worse because DD2 wants to push bedtime and DD1 isn't getting enough overnight sleep!

Dinner. The 30 to 45 minutes I need to cook suddenly everyone wants something, we're all getting hangry, DD2 is hanging off my leg and crying (letting her cry in her playpen instead of at my feet reduces the stress a little). Once I have everything ready I'm still getting up 80 times for my water, the girls water, seconds for DD2. And we are all tired by that point. It's a mess.

The morning when the girls wake up if they are cranky, (ok mostly just LO1) it becomes a mini battle over every little thing. Then bedtime is stressful, although DH mostly takes that part over after I say my good nights but it usually involves a lot of getting out of bed and screaming. So the start to the day and the end of the day are usually the worst.
