My parents got 2 females so they wouldn't have babies. Apparently mine was pregnant when we got them and we were completely surprised to find tiny babies in their cage one day! My gerbil was the mother but she basically became paralyzed after the babies were born. My mom took her to the vet to be put to sleep and then my sister's gerbil began lactating and fed the babies. We had fish, turtles, hampsters, and gerbils. I didn't really care for them though. We did have a cat and several dogs too.</p> <p>I really loved my hamsters, but they don't live very long. :( I love animals.
