Awesome), except because I had/have such a wicked case of social anxiety, I was the type who silently completed all of my work, and got really embarrassed if I was called on, even if I knew the answer. My 'rebellious' stage lasted all of two months; I stopped taking my medication, and proceeded to have a meltdown in which I dyed my hair black, chopped it off with a pair of kiddie scissors, and then wound up in the crisis centre at the hospital. I dyed my hair w/ streaks of red or blue, got my nose pierced, started sitting in the back of the classroom, and tried to act like I didn't care. Fortunately I still cared enough to pull off decent grades. Sometime around the end of sophomore year I realized that I wanted to go to a really good college, and then I started to shape up. Luckily I still had time to pull myself back together, and now I'm super preppy and have a Ph.D. from an ivy league university. I was realllllly concerned with popularity and peer approval in HS. I struggled with an eating disorder and was friends with your standard Mean Girls clique. I drank a bit, snuck out after curfew once, had serial boyfriends but mostly just teased them terribly, and was super social - stereotypical teenage girl stuff (boys, clothes, lipgloss, etc). Most didn't even attend my school or were older. I did really well in school, but smoked pot on the weekends. I didn't start drinking until senior year, though, and was the only one of my friend's who was a virgin at the time I graduated. I wore the short skirts, listened to rap, and stuffed my bra. </p> <p>In high school I finally started becoming more myself, and was a band geek. In 12 grade I was very into getting good grades and I was a goody goody. We had one teacher who was very..... stupid. She was old and didn't remember what she assigned and when. I would always do my homework on time, but everyone else in the class wouldn't do it and would try to tell the teacher that she never assigned the work. Well I thought that was mean and I didn't want to have done all of that homework for nothing, so I would tell her that she did assign it and hand my homework in. Needless to say, everyone in the class hated me, and some even called me some really mean names. </p> <p>In college I became crazy about getting A's. A-'s weren't ok, if I was going to get an A- I would ask if I could redo something or turn in some extra credit. I was always studying. Which I now regret, nobody cares that I had deans list all through college, it's not getting me any further in life. I also took a lot of art classes so I started dressing more artsy fartsy and less preppy because people there didn't judge. Always raised my hand to answer. When I wasn't picked, I would raise my hand and then wave it in the air like a total geek. I worked hard, I obsessed over my homework, and I was a really good kid. Then in grade 12 I went through a phase of fed-upness. I was fed up with trying to hard, fed up working so hard, fed up being the good girl. So I stopped participating, I slouched in my seat. I mumbled my answers. I shrugged my shoulders. I did all of this even though the keener inside of me wanted to shout out the answers. Well, this phase abuptly ended when ALL of teachers, concerned that something was terribly wrong, phoned my parents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got into *SO* much trouble that night. SIGH.</p> <p>So much for being rebellious. It was a phase that lasted about 2 weeks.</p> <p>Did you go through a phase? </p>
