Today I'm having a Subway veggie delight--I had this for lunch and dinner yesterday, too! It's only $5 for a foot-long sandwich and you can split it up into 2 meals.

I pack cups of plain yogurt, beef jerky, cheese, boiled eggs, some easy to grab fruit, and a salad if I have time. If not, I'll just bring an avocado and some chopped up leftover meat and throw it on a garden salad I can pick up anywhere. I also carry around some canned seltzer in different flavors.

I'm trying to keep my sugar/carb intake in check because I feel like it makes me sick and crazy, so I eat a lot of meat.

@kayakgirl73: I brought a lot of soup this past winter and it was great. We make our own veggie broth from all our vegetable scraps so that it's low sodium.

@kayakgirl73: soup is a great idea for this winter! If you make a batch in the crockpot or in the weeked it wouldn't take too much time. I'm going to have to remember this!

I have this issue too. I'm so sick of peanut butter and the occasional leftovers. Ugh. Thanks for the ideas. I'm also trying to save money so I'm avoiding buying lunches out. I have packed cheese slice from a wedge and crackers. When it gets cold I may do some soups but the pre-made ones can be full of sodium.

Salad, fruit, yogurt, I try to make extra dinner and have it left over for lunch. It definitely feels like more work that it did before because there is less I can just go out and buy for lunch.

I don't eat meat so I don't have the problem of replacing deli meat but it does make lunch challenging. Some things that I like to bring that are quick and easy to get ready in the morning... PB&J plus a yogurt (we buy a big tub of plain yogurt, scoop some into a small jar and add frozen berries or fruit), salad with beans or chickpeas, pasta salad, falafel with couscous and hummus (we buy frozen falafel and couscous takes about 20 seconds to get ready), cut up veggies with cheese, hummus, and pretzels or crackers . Cheese and tomato sandwiches w/ arugula are yummy but get soggy. I always bring either a banana or apple too.

I do leftovers as well. One idea my boss gave me is to buy a turkey breast and roast it yourself in the oven, then just slice it off to make sandwiches throughout the week! I'm super lazy so I haven't done that, but it sounds delicious.

Leftovers and pb&j. FYI, my OB ok'd deli meat as long as it was the prepackaged stuff. I'd check with your OB and see what he/she says.

I still did sandwiches but made them with cheese and veggies. Also, I did peanut butter and jelly and salads. It was hard in the beginning because I was a turkey sandwich person a few days a week before pregnancy, but oddly, I don't miss it all that much!

@jessiejo17: I love me some chicken salad. I need to start making a batch on Sunday to use through the week.

Leftovers are my go-to. I also do PB&J, tuna and deli meats on occasion (my OB gave the go ahead since it isn't a daily or even weekly thing).

I didn't have any food aversions while pregnant and I didn't eat deli meat all that often before, so I'd bring pasta salads with chopped up chicken or sliced steak and lots of small snacks, like yogurt and cheese with crackers or hummus with raw veggies.

I second the leftovers, easiest thing to do when pregnant. I also will make chicken or egg salad for sandwiches, lots of PB&J sandwiches, or do salads with lots of veggies. It's hard though, I miss tuna and deli meat (although I do still eat both on occasion with the okay from my doctor!)

I'm newly knocked up and suddenly all I can think of to pack for lunch involves deli meat. Anyone have any good ideas for lunches on the go that are healthy and don't involve anythin on the pregnancy no-no list?
