We have lots of low-income and minority students, and there's a small amour of parental involvement (and concern) for the size. Overall, there's just a huge range of household incomes in our district. Not to mention, our county is full of issues. It's been used for years across the country as a case study of how NOT to run a school system. It's changing for the better, though!

Our local schools struggle with income inequality.

The best schools have huge PTAs which fund all sorts of teacher's helpers and programs. Other schools have PTAs that raise a fraction of those funds. We're at a low-fundraising school now, and you can really see the difference!

I was reading an article today about top schools in our area. Some schools that perform well normally were left off this list (US News Best High Schools) because minority and low income students weren't performing well enough.

Our area definitely has issues with low income and minority students struggling to keep up with their peers.

We also have issues with teacher pay. Many teachers in our state are either leaving the state or the profession all together due to low pay and an early burn-out rate.
