@regberadaisy:
Here are some links to some info that is out there. I have no idea if these are to be trusted, it's just info that is out there! Basically, I'm totally confused.

@T-Mom: I am honestly not sure what the difference is btwn pasteurized and ultra pasteurized?
I only knew of my option through my cousin in law who buys it at a feel rite market near us. Do you have one of those? But yes it's from a local dairy farm. We have lots of option bc there's tons of farms within a 2 hr radius.
Do you know of any contacts in your local farm scene? I've been amazed at how willing local farmers are willing to share info about other farms.
I would place certified organic low on my list. Not all small farmers can afford that title but doesn't mean they are not as organic as a certified organic farm in the important criteria. If that makes sense?
P.S. look for certified naturally grown that is usually the title smaller farms go for.

@regberadaisy: yeah, that sounds like the best profile to me as well. My problem is, so far, I have only found options that don't have that complete profile. It's either "organic, ultra-pasteurized, non-homogenized milk," or "organic, pasturized, but homogenized milk." The different brands vary depending on the area, and I think you may have more options in your part of the country than me. So I would like to know what the priority would be if you compare all of those types.

@T-Mom: I'm leaning towards pasteurized, non homogenized, local & organic, FWIW.

I'm concerned about cholesterol in kids. Daddy's side has a history of high cholesterol. It was a contributing factor into BIl's sudden death at 34. Although a majority of your cholesterol levels are predetermined what can I do at this young age to help control the portion we can control? ie eggs are high in cholesterol. How much is too much in my daughter's situation?

I'm interested in @Kemma's question too - a nutritionist's take on BLW vs. purees. I'm also curious to know what they think are the benefits and drawbacks of starting food early (4-5 months) or later (6 months).

Mrs. Stroller's question #2 is at the top of my list. My extended BF toddler refuses to drink any form of milk other than breast, and I feel like I'm trying to cram cheese, yogurt, chia seeds, and spinach into her all the time to make sure she gets enough calcium.

I am posting to keep an eye on this thread. I had to go see a dietician last week (is that synonymous with nutritionist?) because of lack of weight gain while pregnant. She was a huge help to me and I'm happy to have gained 3 pounds this week.

Lately I've been interested in the health benefits of chia seeds. I'd love to know if they are truly a "superfood" and what is the benefit to adding them to my diet.

I'm interested in what an ideal meal (ratios of foods, calories) looks like for pregnancy, breastfeeding, and for weaned toddlers. I'm always happy to get meal ideas, I fall into cooking ruts/funks all the time. Also thinking ahead to a future pregnancy, meals that fight/minimize nausea and heartburn!

@mrs. wagon: I totally hear you!

I would like to know more about cows milk and info on organic vs regular, pasteurized vs ultra pasteurized, and homogenized vs non. What are the considerations when making choices? E.g is it better to go for non-homogenized even if it's ultra pasteurized? Or non-homgenized even if it's not organic?

If you had a toddler that would eat anything and a lot of it, what would be the ideal balance of protein, grains, etc. What would an ideal daily meal plan look like? Everything I read focuses on the picky eater, not the bottomless pit.

How do you feed a toddler that has a fear of new foods? (WAY more so than the typical picky eater.) What's the best approach to hopefully get them through it so they do not carry the fear throughout their lives or at least for a super long time throughout childhood?

Right now I'm wondering about getting calories to baby belly. My LO is still nursing, though less than before, I'm going on runs (though not very fast), and have a cold. So I've been eating constantly because I'm worried that belly baby isn't going to get enough food and wondering a lot about how your body shunts nutrition to baby when pregnant (and breastfeeding)
So I guess my questions are:
1. How best to space meals when needing to eat a ton of calories.
2. Advice for nutrition while pregnant and staying active
3. What to look for in vitamins to know your body will best absorb the nutrients
4. Best pre-labor meal
5. Anything toddler eating related

Why does food prep matter so much? Example if you pan fry salmon with olive oil is that the same as baking it in the oven with olive oil drizzled on top?

Does the order you eat things throughout the day or even during the meal help with digestion or weight control? I have heard salads should be eaten last at meals and fruit after 3 pm is not good.

My son is still very picky when it comes to food. We give him a multivitamin each day and have been able to get some greens in him via making green juice. But if his pickiness keeps up, at what point do we need to worry about whether he's getting enough nutrients for healthy growth?

@Arden: another person interested in soy here!

I would also be interested in an ideal TTC diet. As with all things TTC, I've read varying information about this.

I would like to learn guidelines in general in how to evaluate any diet advice out there. Figuring out how to see if a diet, whether it's paleo, Atkins, etc. is right for you. This may be to broad to cover, but maybe like the top five tips?

This will be an interesting series. Thanks, Mrs. Bee.

I'd like to hear thoughts on the traditional ages to introduce certain foods and if those are still scientifically backed.

For instance, eggs.
Several years ago parents were told not to introduce eggs until age 1 or even age 3. Now most books tell them egg yolks can be introduced at 8 months. However, I've been hearing some doctors suggest egg yolk as the ideal first food, and suggest feeding it at 5 or 6 months.

So... What are the current studies showing as far as the schedule for introducing foods?

I'd also like to know more about soy, specifically for little boys. I'm avoiding it right now.

Here are some other things I'd love to hear about:

1. what causes sensitivities, like M's gluten sensitivity and how long does it usually take them to outgrow it?

2. what are some good, natural sources of non-dairy calcium that aren't "supplements" like you'd find in almond milk that has a calcium supplement. Currently we use cheese, yogurt and chia as the main sources.

3. What's up with the latest research re: calcium supplements in women and heart disease?

4. When should/can a LO start taking a multi-vitamin (a non-gummy, but not the nasty drops)

5. Is the paleo diet balanced enough for good nutrition? Or is it more of a weight loss strategy? It seems very fad-like, similar to the Atkins craze (sorry just my sense, I know some people swear by it!)

6. For an extended BFing toddler who only drinks mummy milk and water, what other nutrients should we make sure to have in his food? At how many ounces of breast milk a day should we start to say, "ok, we should probably supplement with something" and what would that be and why? (Currently having ~12-14oz a day if I were to guess.)

@T.H.O.U.: our nutritionist said not to look at one meal, but how much your child eats over a week. sometimes they may skip a meal and then eat a lot more the next day. looking at a whole week gives you a better picture of how much they're actually eating.
