It was devastating for me. I watched him suffer though several different cancers and surgeries over those last few years. We needed it because it fixed a lot of things and we ended up having a much better relationship, but during the breakup, it was awful. Very dramatic.</p> <p>Also, DH's grandmother who I was very close to passed away 2 weeks before our wedding. She had skin cancer that they thought they got and a year later it had spread to her brain and lungs. But their relationship had kind of a sad ending. He was pretty religious and was really vocal about the fact that he planned on waiting until marriage to have sex. She was a very sexual 16 year old and after about 6 months of dating, she convinced him to sleep with her, then told everyone. He promptly dumped her and never spoke to her again. She was actually really heartbroken over his dumping, so it worked out. Sad for him, though. She lost a huge group of friends over the whole thing. I mean head over heels and he only saw me as a friend. Unreciprocated love sucks as it is, but during my sweet 16 birthday party, I walked outside to see my best friend and him kissing. Turns out, they had been dating secretly for like 3 months because they didn't want to tell me. And the worst part was that she was pissed that I wasn't happy for her becauwe she was happy.
