I'd like to rip up the carpet in our main area and install hardwood, then get the kitchen hardwood refinished to match. Painting cabinets? Totally doable by yourself!</p> <p>We are getting our roof done in a few weeks, and then after that we are having our bathroom gutted and redone. Keep it neutral. I would have a heart attack at the mess when we would come and peek our heads in to see the progress. Ripping up carpets was really not that hard, just a bit messy. I actually had in my mind to paint my kitchen cabinets this summer but never got around to it! I have oak cabinets that are in great condition but it's just not my style. We bought this house June 2012 - still so much work to do! So far we've done some landscaping out front, installed wood look tiles throughout, and had plantation shutters installed on all the windows. We'd only live there a few years, but rent here is so crazy that its the only way we can afford something bigger.<br /> We are only looking at developments where the condos sell rapidly.</p> <p>If we buy, we are thinking about doing some minor renovations like painting cabinets, ripping up carpet to install wood floors...that kind of thing.</p> <p>Have you tackled any of these kind of things yourself, ala young house love? A lot of it would be up to me, because husband works nutty hours.</p> <p>We can do it, right? :) </p>
