Extra clothes for lo
Pacifiers, we always kept an extra (at least one extra)
Paci clip if you use those
Blanket (we usually have a&a)
Diaper sacks/plastic bag for the occasional really nasty poop you have to carry to a trash can or whatever
bottles, water, and formula if baby is ff
nursing cover if baby is bf (or use the blanket)
(both if baby is bf and ff, lol)
burp cloth
wet ones or hand sanitizer or in my case both

sometimes: tylenol with syringe. I kept it because I wanted to be super prepared when lo was a nb. Now I usually keep it in there if lo has been fussing and chewing a lot or for some reason I think she might need it..

Now that it's summer I carry aveeno sunscreen but that's not really a necessity for the diaper bag. I also usually leave lo's immunization card and health insurance card in there, just in case, because no matter who is watching lo, they have the diaper bag.

In the car: shirt for you and whatever you find you don't use often but want to have just in case!

I'd add an extra shirt for you in addition to all that's mentioned above. Spit up happens.

I didn't bring that much. Maybe an extra outfit depending on how long we'd be gone. She didnt have that many poop explosions. I'd bring a A&A blanket, some diapers, wipes, and maybe a rattle.

@rahlyrah: I think you'd be fine with whatever kind of blanket you have. I will say that the A&A muslin ones are a nice weight for summer, and a good size for covering the car seat from rain, sun, while LO is sleeping, etc.

Thanks guys!

A&A swaddling blankets or the $50 ones? I love A&A but we got several blankets at our shower and I'm not sure DH would be on board with me spending $50 on ANOTHER blanket! Lol. Are they worth it?

newborns don't need very much! always a few diapers, wipes, A&A blanket, burp cloth (the gerber prefolds), nursing cover, and extra change (or two) of clothes.

burp cloth! And at least 1 spare outfit. And 2 pacifies, if your LO takes them--I always end up dropping them on the ground in gross places.

I kept a clean empty bottle, when I go out for the day I put a hand pump, pacifier (if you're using them) A+A blanket (good for baby and if you're nursing), extra clothes (there will be poop explosions), purel, napkins.
