Read Ina Mae gaskins childbirth book and the happiest baby on the block and Ina mae's breast feeding book. Those were my favorite prebaby books

@gracecat: Do you think 16 weeks is too early to be reading up on newborn care? I'm afraid I'll forget it anyway. I have heard the same thing though-- people wish they spent more time reading about after the birth and less about birth itself.

I recommend spending time looking up info on breastfeeding if you plan to do it and anything that goes along with that like the brest friend pillow, pumps, bottles, etc...

Also things to make your newborn time easier like swings or bouncy chairs and the rock n play. Its a tough time so you could really benefit from having the right tools to make it easier.

Finally you should read up on newborn care. A lot of friends said they focused so much on reading up on pregnancy and not on what to do after baby arrived so read as much as you can about sleeping, nursing, baby care, etc... now because you will be toi exhausted and sleep deprived to do so after the birth

@blackbird: It's less than 2 years old, from my sister and nephew, so I know it's fine!
@softcream: I have looked at them, but not since I was pregnant, so good call.
@JoeysMama: I totally just spent like an our pinning nursery ideas, then got frustrated without being able to do more so came over here!

How old is the car seat? Make sure it hasn't expired!

I wouldn't research for at least another six weeks! I'd just relax :)

I would pin ideas of what I would want my ideal nursery to look like...but I am crazy, lol.

And definitely agree to research fun stuff for the babymoon!

@Foodnerd81: ooh you could research places to eat from "drive ins, diners and dives" in Alaska. We do that for every trip.

These are some good ideas! Breast pumps is an annoying one since I'm not clear on what I get through insurance but I think it is only manual, so should look into that. I'll be SAHM so no daycare (plus don't know where we will be living, so location would be an issue), not cloth diapering, but the rest are great to work on.

And we are taking our big babymoon in 2 weeks to Alaska!!

Hm. Breast pumps? Carriers? Daycares? Second trimester pregnancy stuff? Baby names? Bottles? Types of diapers? Maternity clothes?

I am almost 16 weeks pregnant. We don't yet know where we will be living when the baby gets here (currently in a 1 bed, looking to move to a 2 or more bedroom place b/f LO arrives in July) so I can't do much in the nursery or furniture department. I'm pretty much stuck inside all weekend with time to kill, so what kind of gear should I be researching?

I think we will get a hand me down carseat, I've decided on the carriers and probably the stroller that I want, what else should I be looking at that isn't furniture? Dh is playing dumb video games on our only TV and I want to do something that could be sort of productive! (That isn't cleaning, obviously. Who wants to do that?)
