Ugh jeans. To this day I'm still bitter towards a cousin who sent her kids to my wedding in jeans. These kids for sure have way nicer clothes than that.

I still can't get over my husbands brothers wife (his brother has passed, not sure what to call her) anyway her boyfriend wore dirty carharts, a ripped up stained carhart sweatshirt and dirty boots. She wore a hot pink tight camisole and too low rise worn out jeans with flipflops. She gave her son a mo-hawk dyed pink, and dyed daughters hair hot pink and put her in jeans. I wanted to cry for the bride. Because my dh was in the wedding and I didn't know too many people I had to sit by them, EMBARASSING!!!

I only wear dresses and heels, no pants, and nothing to revealing. I have this super cute white house black market white dress with black satin trim and embroidery , I always want to wear it but it's white.

White is my only rule. Although, in my culture it's a tradition for the mother of the bride to wear white, too. My mom wore off-white to my sister's wedding.

I did wear a short skirt and a polo to my sister's wedding. She told me not to worry about dressing up so I didn't. The wedding entire was casual. I did feel under dressed. Although, there was one guest who wore torn up jeans to the wedding so I wasn't the worst one.

Things are a little different where I'm from I think...it's pretty standard for guys to wear jeans to a wedding. My husband rarely (as in I can count on 1 hand the number of times since we've met) wears anything other than jeans. He does have "dress" jeans which are darker and clean and in good condition. He'll wear those with a nice button down shirt and his dress boots. It's the same thing he wears to church. I always dress up but that might mean a dress it might be slacks and a dressy top.

I went to a wedding a few years ago and there was a group of people who showed up late wearing jeans & tshirts AND were drinking beers! It was the craziest thing I've ever seen!

I always dress up for weddings. Why wouldn't you? It's so much fun! My wedding was at a club where there was a no jeans dress code so there were no jeans. But there was a couple (both girls) who I swear just wanted to make a statement. Both were in black dress pants, one had a corset top and the other had suspenders over a top and a fedora. My straight-laced aunts couldn't stop staring.

DH's cousin wore jeans and flip flops to our wedding. Then she got trashed. Luckily she didn't make as scene.

I went to a friend's wedding in somewhat rural Iowa and knew it was going to be interesting when as we were pulling into the country club for the ceremony/reception, the car in front of us threw a beer bottle out the window. There were quite a few people dressed like they were going to a backyard bbq.

I definitely agree, no white dresses! I was at a wedding once where there were guys in jeans. But then groom changed out of his tux and into black jeans after the ceremony, so I guess it was ok with the couple. If it had been my wedding, I would have been pissed.

You should never wear jeans or white to a wedding! At my wedding a few of my cousins were in jeans and t shirts. And one of my friends wore a "club ho" dress (that's what my brother called it). The dress was white and stopped mid thigh.

You shouldn't rewear your own wedding dress to someone else's wedding. Yes, this happened at my wedding. It was a more casual dress since they had had a courthouse wedding, but it was still a long white dress. Oh, excuse me, she said it was ivory so it was ok.. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I always dress up for weddings, but at our wedding, we didn't care what people wore. It was a casual evening wedding. We told the guys they could wear khakis and a polo if they wanted....girls were good in sundresses. We had one guy in a Hawaiian shirt and jeans. No biggie for us. We just wanted people to be comfortable and have fun.

I think that sometimes people don't think. It blows my mind sometimes when I see what people wear to a wedding. My SMIL wore flip flops and my FIL wore Dockers with a polo style shirt - untucked. We had an evening wedding.

All white dresses, shorts, short skirts, t-shirts, and tank-tops. I feel weird wearing tank-tops if I'm not working out or gardening - why on earth would someone wear one to a highly photographed semi-formal event?

I have been complaining to my DH at every wedding we have been too. If you attend the ceremony you better be in at least slacks for a man, and slacks/dress for a woman.

"Club wear" should never be worn to a wedding, nothing drives me more nuts than girls in hoochie dresses in a church/formal setting. I have seen jeans at receptions, and I usually give this a buy if they only attend the part, even though I don't like it. And WHITE sundresses, not the right occasion!

I think the most casual I've ever worn to a wedding was a skirt and tank/overshirt combo but DD was only 5w and still nursing frequently so I had to dress functionally as well as appropriate (didn't own any dresses and was still too pp to buy something new that would be usable again). I am going to be 28w pregnant at an upcoming wedding and will be wearing a maxi sundress but plan to wear a light sweater since it is spaghetti straps. These are/were both daytime weddings.

I have a friend who married into an extremely wealthy family. When her Father-in-law got re-married, those who rsvp'd to the wedding were given a pre-paid credit card in advance and instructed as to the dress code. (new outfits were on him!). It was a ritzy wedding and they ensured everyone dressed appropriately. I thought it was genius. Unfortunately, the rest of us non-millionaires will always have to deal with one or two guests who dress badly!
