We just moved over to the big boy section this summer! Depending on the brand he wears XS/S (around sz 5-6). He is one of the taller ones in his class and is pretty solid (I think he is almost 50lbs).

4T. He's always been a little smaller. Things outgrow him in length before his waist.

Anything new I buy him at this point will be 5T because 4T pants are almost getting a little short.

I bought him a 4 (not T) coat last year and he was swimming in it!! I hope it fits him a little better this year but I'm sure he'll fit it next winter too!

4-5. She likes things looser so we are leaning more on the 5 side of things for Fall.

@Bao: she can fit into 4T, 5T or 4 depending on the store. I find that childrens place seems to run small so i got for 5T there

DD1 is not quite 4.5, but below average height. She is mostly in 4T although she can still fit into some 3T leggings (that are just more like ankle-length/capris). For any new fall/winter tops or dresses, we'll do 5T, but probably stick to 4T for pants.

She was 4 in June, is super slim, average height, and wears:

Size 2T in shorts & skirts
Size 3T or 4 in short sleeve/summer tops
Size 4 in dresses, jeans, leggings
Size 4 in sweaters/long sleeve tops/pjs

When my mom/mil ask about size, I just tell them 4 and make it work by taking in waists/set things aside if they are too big.

The slimmer, longer "big girls" sizes work much better for her, so I'm trying to buy from brands that offer an actual size 4 (not 4T or XS/4/5) where I can.

DS1 is almost 4 and is tall and skinny. However, his length is all in his torso. He always wears a size bigger in shirts than in pants. So I'm buying him 5T shirts and 4T pants.

Last year LO wore size 4 pants and a mix of size 3T and 4T shirts. LO turned 5 in May and still wears the same size in shirts. He only outgrows his pants in length and starting to fit into size 5.

She is 5 in December. I am buying girls small (5-6) at this point. The stuff she is wearing now is a mix between 4t and up.

T turned 4 in May - his summer stuff is 4T tops and 3T bottoms (skinny!) but his fall/winter stuff is 5T tops and 4T bottoms.

She's mainly in 4's- but I'm only buying 4/5's or 5's from now on. She's tall and skinny, so even 4's in bottoms are big on her.

Same! She's in some XS or 5s (not Ts...in little girls, she's too tall for toddler clothes anymore.) She has a very long torso and shirts need to be long for her.

My LO just turned 4 last week and she is wearing an XS (4-5) from Target, but from other stores I go straight for the size 5. With some pajamas I think she has a couple in a size 6. The 2 piece character pajamas seem to really shrink. She's actually a very petite girl so I'm surprised she's in a size 5 already!
