Pretty much anything with noodles or rice in it will work. This week we had chili mac, we've done Italian wedding soup, chicken noodle with lots of carrots, chicken and rice soup, etc.

One thing I like to do is use soups in pasta dishes for a second meal. For instance, I made ham and white bean soup last week and this week I added it to some pasta with some marinara, frozen spinach, and cheese and it became like a white bean pasta dish. You can do that with butternut squash soup and sausage and pasta and cheese, etc. Obviously it works well when the texture is thicker. I also took a tub of frozen chicken soup last night and made risotto out of it.

I think this winter we'll try potato leek with cheese toast and I hope he likes my favorite red lentil soup.

I generally have a soup in my fridge every week which I heat up for the kids to eat for lunch. Its a basic veggie with meat soup and I will put in whatever I have bought from the shop or was in the garden.

I usually boil some chuck/casserole beef for a few hours til very very tender, then I finely dice celery, carrot, potato, onion, broccoli and sometimes spinach/silverbeet/zucchini or anything green from the garden. A little bit of olive oil and a pinch of salt/pepper. when its all boiled nicely I add a handful of risoni pasta and cook that through. Kids have been gobbling it down since forever!

Puréed squash or root veggie soups. Before she could manage with a spoon we'd give it to her in a cup with a straw.
She likes a white bean/kale/sausage soup, too.

My LO won't eat soup or anything else that is mixed together. :bummed:

We like chicken noodle, chicken with rice, black bean soup, taco soup, vegetable, and chili. I'm hoping to try out a white chicken chili when it finally cools down here.

Sorry to butt in when I don't have kids, but I thought I'd give a little tip that might help the anti-soup eaters.

This only works with a soup without noodles or any veggies in it. But when I was a kid, we would have tomato soup which I wasn't a huge fan of, but my mom had these these fancy swirly, curly straws and would let us eat the soup through the fancy straw (I remember mine had Princess Jasmine on the top of the straw). I didn't care for the soup, but I loved the special straw.

@tinyperson: I had no idea that's what mulligatawny soup was, ha! That sounds delicious! And I should try Italian Wedding; D would probably love the little mini meatballs!

Otherwise, D's not much of a soup eater. Apparently at school he'll eat tomato soup, but at home he just won't do it.

They both eat taco soup, but I have to make theirs in a second pot and add way fewer spices. They don't like spicy and we love spicy.

I once had success making a mild curry lentil soup, but haven't made it recently. I should try it again!

It's FINALLY soup weather around here, and I love making soup (especially if it can chill and cook in a crockpot all day.) The idea of coming home to a warm and home cooked meal is a winner in my mind. My only issue is, I'm boring. I make 3 soups; chili, chicken noodle, and creamy tomato. I need to branch out with some kid friendly soups. What are your go to's?
