We used these silicone Beaba spoons during the early stages of feedings.

http://www.beabausa.com/product-spoons.cfm

Now we use the the plastic ones from Beaba. He loved both sets.

We use the OXO Tot soft-tipped ones. He likes them and even gnaws on them like teethers. But he eats just fine off disposable take-alongs, too.

We use these, LO likes to self feed. Surprisingly, he gets food on the spoon and into his mouth most of the time.

Ha, I was just at the store checking them out today because I'm in need of more than the 2 we have and was wondering what kind to get. I'm going to check all these out now, thanks!

@chopsuey119: glad my LO isn't the only one picky. He's a little late to the solids game so we wanted to make sure e continues to enjoy it....if that means buying special spoons so be it!

@sulli301: I thought you'd get a kick out of them :)

They're plastic spoons by Munchkin and are my favorite. We also have some plastic toss & go spoons. LO likes them both.

We started off with soft spoons, but my LO stopped taking food from them at around month 7. Now I just use spoons we use. She likes stainless steel. :P

Does your LO prefer a certain material for their spoon to be made from?

We were using these soft-tip spoons from Vital Baby, but DS was basically refusing to eat off of them. One day we tried an Oneida stainless steel spoon my mom had from when I was a baby and DS started eating more willingly! I was shocked.

I'm not sure if it is the smaller, thinner size of the spoon he prefers or if it is the metal over the plastic/silicone he likes better, but he will not eat off anything but stainless (We have the same issue with our dogs too...the will only drink from stainless steel, but will only eat from ceramic...maybe it is us?!).

Anyway, here is the progress set we ended up getting DS. I love how the knife bear has a back side too! We only use the infant spoon so far, but I love how we wont have to buy another one as he learns to use ustensils.

http://www.oneida.com/baby/gift-sets/6-piece-progress-set.html
