I was in volleyball and track in jr. high but didn't have much talent in either of these sports. I also played softball up until my 9th grade year. I was pretty talented at basketball. I'm 5'11, so I kind of didn't have much of a choice but to play :) I kind of ruined things when I developed a serious eating disorder when I was 15. I was able to still participate up until my senior year of high school...and then my treatment team wouldn't let me play and I had to enter intensive treatment. </p> <p>I really hope our future children are interested in sports, and will support them in whatever they would like to try...though football and hockey scare me. Softball was my best sport and I kept playing all the way through my sophomore year of college. I also played field hockey in high school. I danced for 11 years and played some tennis but not on any sort of team. </p> <p>I cannot WAIT to put Wagon Jr. into sports!! We're both hoping he'll play baseball and soccer. Wagon Sr. was pretty talented in football until his mom pulled him out in early high school because she was too afraid of him getting injured. I think I'd like it if Wagon Jr. played football because I love watching it, but I'd be really scared. </p> <p>As for our little girl... I'll honestly let her try whatever she wants to try. With both kids I really want to let them do whatever extracurricular activities they want to participate in, and if their grades slip, get them extra help with tutoring. My parents just took all my extracurriculars away and I stopped trying just to spite them, because I didn't want to prove them right in that if I ONLY studied I'd do better.</p> <p>Where did I go with this?!? I swam and played soccer in a league, but wasn't very good at either.</p> <p>In junior high I ran track and then in high school, I played football. Those were the two sports I had the most ability in. I also competed in some powerlifting competitions, but that was mostly just to get jacked to play football. I always wanted to wrestle, but never really got the chance.</p> <p>In college I played rugby my Freshman year, but didn't have a real talent for it. I trained with a boxer after college, but had to stop after getting a head injury.</p> <p>What sports have you played (both organized and for funsies)? Are you going to encourage your kids to play sports? </p>
