@mrbee: your love numbers reminds me of my DH and his mom, she used to ask him how much he loves her and the biggest number he knew was 99. This is how they end phone conversations, one will say 99 and the other one will echo. It's heartwarming.

I am LOVING most of 3 here, even the tantrums because I like seeing how his little mind works. The only thing I hate is the sleep issues which is fairly recent. But OH the things that come out of his mouth!! Emerging protectiveness over his little sister, his version of the way the world works.

He always seems so mature to me because he is my first and it's the oldest he's ever been. Now when I look at his sister (21 months) I think about him at this age and he was just a baby!! So that always reminds me to really treasure these "baby" moments.

I'll miss the way baby looks at me with these huge adoring eyes when he's trying to tell me he wants to nurse (lasts about 5 seconds before the screaming). Gummy smiles. Cuddles. The way they make grandparents sooo happy. The little, easy to solve problems. They are constant but there's almost nothing a boob won't fix.

For my toddler I'll miss the way she looks at everything. She still literally thinks I hung the moon. Last week she asked me to make it morning at bedtime. I'll miss all the firsts. Her wanting to play with me.

I'm another one that just loves this starting to really talk phase. I just love finally knowing what is going on in her mind (even though sometimes it's kind of annoying! ;) And hearing the funny things she says that you see where she got it- Dh asked her "do I love you too much?" And she replied "three much!"

She still loves me to sing most of the time, but every once in a while I get "mommy, can you please don't sing now?" At least she's polite.

I have a 21mo, and I don't miss the newborn/infant days at all! He is much more fun now that he's learning to talk.

@hellobeeboston: I loved 3 with my daughter, since she was still super sweet but also could communicate so well!

With my son, 3 was so so hard... he lost his sweetness in his twos alas.

I don't miss the newborn days one tiny bit! I was telling DH I wish they would come out as a 1 year old who can already walk, and doesn't cry at every damn thing.

But DD is 3 and I will miss how much I am her everything. How much she absolutely adores her parents and think we are just the best thing in the world: funniest, most comforting, entertaining, etc... How she lights up and runs to me when I pick her up from day care, how I make everything better... But she also tells me to stop singing!! Strange...

I will also miss how she talks. How she cannot pronounce the "l" in "please" so it is adorable when she says "pweeeease"! How she can be entertained by the weirdest things. I love these later toddler years, tiring as it can be.

@mrbee: yikes I'm 3 months into 3 and I am not loving it!

I have a 9 week old right now and this will be our last; and I am loving his tiny cuteness, snuggling, nursing, tiny clothes, adorable coos & smiles, waiting for the first laugh, and seeing how happy he makes so many people when we are out!

I won't miss the no sleeping, and unpredictability, although my 3 year old is hard to figure out lately....

@mrbee: :-) So sweet. And I think it's especially nice because I missed out on age 3 the first time around. That's when my focus was on baby sis. I have a second chance now!

Nothing yet. I'm not a baby person and my youngest is turning 3 this month so she still seems baby-ish to me. That'll probably start changing soon once she hits 3. Right now she's still so cuddly and says so many sweet things, but isn't high maintenance like a baby. It's the perfect age!

I didn't really love the early years of parenting, and couldn't wait to get to the school years! Of course now that I am here, I am missing all sorts of little things about the earlier years.

I used to sing the kids a bunch of songs, like: You Are The Sunshine of my Life, Love is for the way you look at me., and Hush Little Baby... but now when I sing the kids these songs, they usually tell me to stop singing. I laugh it off, but my heart breaks a little bit when I think about how much they used to love being sung to sleep as toddlers! It was a lot of work at the time, but now I miss it.

My daughter just turned four, and when I ask her how much she loves me, she will always say, "100 million + 8." Then I will say, "I love 100 million + 9" and we will add 1 to our love until she runs out of numbers.

What stuff will you miss about the early years of parenting?
