Mrs. Sheridan, my 6th - 8th grade music teacher and also private voice teacher in Ohio.

I looooved her so much. She really listened and encouraged me in all aspects of my life, not just music/singing! I remember one particular incident when I went over to her house for my usual singing lesson. My mom and I had JUST had a fight, and so Mrs. Sheridan could clearly see that I was upset and kinda teary eyed. She just sat me down and we talked instead of doing a lesson. She also drove me to audition for the high school show choir and was SOO proud of me when I was the only freshman out of the entire school district (3 middle schools) to make it into the HS show choir!

Now I'm off to google stalk her...

Mr. Johnson, my awesome 6th grade teacher. He taught us discipline, tough love, how to say Illinois and phrases like, "I'll tack your hide to the barnyard door!" One lasting lesson was to never, ever, give up, perfectly illustrated by a class against class tug-a-war game that lasted way, too long. They almost won with just 1 person left, with only 1 foot in and we came back to win it :)

Next teacher was Mr. Eaton. He sang to us Cats in the Cradle until it stuck and sparked our imagination with a muppet living in a tree branch beside the door.

Mrs Straube- She was the gifted teacher at my elementary school and I had her from 3rd-5th grade. She was a very kind, wise woman. I was a latchkey kid and she used to stay later after school and pull me out of latchkey to do projects with her.

Mr Isaacs- I had him for World History in 10th grade and Current Issues in 11th. He was the teacher that all of his students respected. He's who made me love history.

1) Miss Wong - grade 4: She was the first Asian teacher I've ever had and thought this was amazing! She was so fun and so pretty!
2) Mrs. Coulter - grade 7&8: Best teacher - loving, nurturing, she recognized that I had body image issues and worked closely with me to help me overcome. We still keep in touch to this day!

I became a teacher because of them!

Well I was homeschooled, but in my extra-curricular activities I would say my summer camp teachers were the best.
My riding teacher was always a little drunk (she would bring a flask to the practice ring).
My violin teacher flirted with my Dad at every lesson which creeped me out (and REALLY creeped my dad out), plus he used to spit when he talked.

I had a lot of weird teachers...

For me, that would probably be my 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Nysmith! She was an amazing teacher, and eventually opened her own private school...

A very close second would be my 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Ilgner! She had survived a Communist regime, and had so much wisdom. She would tell us all the time: "It's not better, it's not worse - it's just different."

What teacher made the biggest impact on you growing up?
