Breastfed babies need between 1 to 1 1/2 ounces of breastmilk for every hour that you are away. It is common for breastfed babies to eat less more often. So smaller bottles would definitely help (especially if they are throwing it out after using it).

Ugh, that's terrible. I haven't gone back yet, but I'm terrified of milk waste!!! I'm interested to hear what they say!

They are. Some days she'll eat 5 oz all day and other days she's eating in 2-3oz "snacks."

If she eats this way should I make 3-3.5 oz bottles? I don't want her to not get enough, but I also don't want to waste 30oz a week.

Are they recording for you how much is in the bottle and how much is consumed?

I bet you're right! I wish they would mention it though. I will make smaller bottles!

That must be so frustrating, trying to keep up with milk demand while you're pumping. I hope you sort it out.

Maybe they are throwing out what's in the bottle if she doesn't finish it right away? Like your husband might have given it to her again later but they just toss the extra after a few minutes.

LO started day are this week. For the past four weeks she's been home with my husband and I went back to work. We've been making four 5 oz bottles for the next day and she would usually eat around 14-18 while I was gone 10 hours.

One day this week she used 18 oz, the next three days she used 24 oz of milk!! They only recorded her eating 17, 15, and 16.

I left a couple of bags of frozen milk, so that's where the extra is coming from. I know I need to ask them, and I plan on it tomorrow. That's like 24 oz of milk down the drain :(
