I just bought the Braun ear thermometer and it is sooooo awesome! it's lightning quick and pretty accurate. I take 3 temp readings in a row and usually they're right around the same range so I feel confident in the readings. the best part is that my son doesn't mind me taking his temp anymore. it literally takes like 3-4 seconds. I love it!

@Maysprout: We haven't had to use it very often so I don't have a ton of experience. I do try to make sure I wipe the sensor before we use it. I haven't really noticed it being low. DS won't let us use an ear thermometer but it may be a little more accurate.

I've had the Exergen temporal one at home and have also used it at work in a hospital, where some docs called it a "magic wand"... it can be pretty inconsistent. You have to keep the sensor clean and know the right technique to get an accurate reading, but even then sometimes the temp won't correlate with symptoms. I suppose a lot of thermometers out there are like that, but it seems moreso with temporal ones in my experience.

Anyway, we also have a Braun ear thermometer and I prefer it. Just seems to get better readings and my DDs don't mind getting their temps taken with it.

@Sweet T: We have a temporal one too. I don't know if I'm using it wrong but I feel like it always reads low. Any tricks to using it?
