As soon as we started High School, this went up to 9:30 until year 8 and then we were allowed until 10:00 until year 10. After that no bed curfews. On the weekend things were a lot more flexible. I hated it. I remember being put to bed in the summer while it was still light outside and my much younger neighbors were still playing out in their yard. My parents would send us to bed and then stay up to watch Masterpiece Theater shows that I thought were scary at the time on PBS lol. Yes, 8:30....I was the oldest and they were old school. By the time they got down to number 4, she was up at 10:00 when she was 8! I would call home from college and she would answer the phone. So unfair. I remember when I joined the swim team, we had to have a family meeting because it went later than my bed time.
