I leave the house at 6:30am and pick up DS around 5pm or lil thereafter depending on traffic and train schedules. Dinner is usually around 6:30pm.

Daycare closes at 6 but I leave work at 5pm and get there at 5:25. At 5:30, they merge rooms and my daughter hates that so I try to be there before 5:30.

Luckily this is not a huge issue for me. I get off at 4:30 and have a 35 minute commute. I am there in plenty of time, and even time to run a quick errand if I have too. If I push it I get nervous if I'm not out of the door by 5. LO does not like being picked up late.

They close at 6:15. I leave work around 4:25 and I get there between 5 and 5:15 most days. Bad traffic days and I am cutting it super close.

DH usually picks up and he leaves his office by 4:30 to get there by 5:45 at the latest. He likes to have plenty of time so he's not stressed he is usually there by 5:20.
I have two office locations, I have to leave one by 4:45 and the other by 4:15 to get there in time.

I leave between 5 and 5:15. I have a walking commute so it's about 15 minutes to get to daycare, then another 10-15 to get home, so we usually get home around 6.

I leave work at 5 for a 5:30 pickup, but I'm usually there by 5:20-25, then it's another half hour home from there. My daycare closes at 6:30, but there's a limit on how long a child can be there (10 hours, I think) and right now E's at like 9.5.

I'm surprised by all the daycares that close so early! Our daycare opens at 6:30 am and closes at 7:00 pm. Must be a sign of how crazy the work culture is here.

DH does pick up and it's a 5 minute walk from his office to daycare - he leaves around 4:15. If I have to pick up and I have to be in the office, I leave around 4:15 as well in case trains are delayed. Daycare's open till 6.

I get off after my husband so it's not a big issue, but if i have to pick up E, i give myself 30 minutes to pick her up, then get home. Dinner's almost ALWAYS pre-prepped so it doesn't take long, or i have my husband throw it in the oven. So I leave at 4:00 because my goal is to get her at 4:30. Daycare closes at 5:00 but I don't like to take advantage of that since it's an in-home (right down the street from us)

On good days, the commute to daycare is only 15 min but on bad days it can be 30 min. I typically leave at 5:15 so that I'm not stressing out while I'm driving. Today I left at 5:35 and was freaking out the entire time.

I used to have a 45 minute commute. To prevent the stress you mentioned if things went off the rails I chose a daycare right near my office. So, I typically get off at 4, and daycare closes at 6. I have to leave by 5:50 at the latest to make it there before closing. Just meant always commuting 45 minutes each way with a possibly unhappy baby/toddler in the back seat.

We moved two weeks ago and now home, daycare and work are all within 5 minutes of each other, which is pretty amazing.

Before we moved it was 4:30 for a 6:00 pick up. I was almost always within 10 minutes of being late.

Now it is 4:30 for 5:30 pickup. Most days I have time to park the car at home and walk the 8 minutes to get LO. Sometimes I even get home at 5:05. However if I wait until 4:37 I will be late for pickup. A few minutes makes a huge difference.

I used to have an office in the city with a 30-40 minute commute. I'd have to leave work by 5:15 at the latest in order to make it to daycare pickup at 6 pm with a little buffer to cover train delays and the like.

If anything went wrong (like trains were running more than a few minutes late) or if I was running even a little bit late, I wouldn't make it to pickup on time - it was incredibly stressful! Sometimes I'd be talking to someone and lose track of time - and then in mid-sentence, I'd have to apologize and run out the door!!

What time do you leave work in order to make it home on time for daycare pickup/dinner?
