When mine napped, 8-8:15. They dropped their nap about 2 months ago at 3y5m and now it's 7-7:15. 8pm sounds normal to me!

DS is 3.5 and has been going to bed about 8 for close to 6 months now. Used to be 7:30 but he was getting up so much before falling asleep. The odd night he will be awake in bed for an hour. He naps about 2 hours a day and wakes up around 6am. It used to be earlier wake ups when he went to bed early. And now some days he'll even sleep until 7am.

I know once he stops napping he will need to go to bed earlier. That is going to be hard because we don't all get home until almost 5:30pm.

I put her to bed at 815 tonight ( mostly because we were at my moms for dinner, then we drove around looking at the Christmas lights on the way home.) It's 830 and she hasn't come out once and I'm pretty sure she's already asleep. Although, she had daycare today for the first time in a couple weeks and she didn't have a nap. Maybe it'll work better with a later bedtime, or maybe it's because of such a busy day with no nap. Who knows!

9ish. It used to be SO much earlier but she really started pushing it over the summer because our days are so long. I think once she drops her nap, we'll be able to move it up again, but the only way to get her to sleep earlier for now would be to move her wake-up time earlier and I'm really not on board for that. She usually sleeps 10 hours overnight and takes a 1.5 hour nap. She just turned 3 last weekend.

My DS still naps for 1.5 hrs at school (3x/week) and for 2-3 hours at home. He is in bed nightly between 8-8:30. He sleeps in until 6:30/7.

Our bedtime is 8 but he is low sleep needs and a night owl by nature. He pushes it back and we have to reset all the time. Right now he hasn't been falling asleep until 8:45 ish even though he's in bed by 8.

Mine still naps for about 2 hours a day, but he goes down between 8-8:30. I feel like that is SO late, but his dad does not get home until 7:30-7:45 most nights and I don't want him to miss out on seeing him.

These past two weekends he has refused nap, and we've pushed bedtime up to 7 and even that might be too late - he turns into a total bear!

Thanks for all the responses! I think I'll try and put her to bed a little later, 730/800. I think it's also hard as DH doesn't get home from work until 6, then it's all rambunctious play time and maybe it gets her too wired. If we keep her up a bit later and do more quiet time after 7, maybe that will help.
It's just so hard for me as I have really strong opinions about early bedtimes!

DD will be 4 in March. Her bedtime in 7:30 at the lastest and sometimes earlier if she's extra tired. She's usually sleeps 7:30pm-8:30ish am.

To get her bedtime earlier we had to drop her nap. Even now if she takes even a short nap she will be up until 10pm.

7:00-7:30 ... I think that most kids need an early bedtime until they are 5 or 6ish, so I'd do anything I could to ensure she still gets to bed at that early time.

Our LO was up 10-20 times last night too, and didn't end up asleep until 10:30. Gah!! Not sure what's going on there, but putting her to bed later isn't even on the table right now.

We're definitely on the later side! LO naps 2-4:30 or even later many days so there's no way she'd go to bed before 8pm. We shoot for 8:30 and she's usually asleep by 9. Some nights it's later than that, but I only sweat it on the nights before school (2 days per week) because otherwise she can sleep in. For the past year or more, she's been really good about sleeping 11+ hours from whenever she goes to bed.

We start the routine around 7 - bath, stories, songs, etc. DH usually finishes up right around 8 and then DS talks to himself for a little while and then falls asleep. With our schedule we're just not able to make it happen much earlier.

I've always been a firm believer in an early bedtime. The girls never go to bed later than 7pm on a regular day. Obviously if there's something going on and we're out or whatever, then they occasionally stay up later.
We've been having a hard time getting my 3.5 year old to go and stay in bed. She's up and out of her bed probably 10-20 times between 7pm-9pm. It seems that she will start settling down around 845pm.
I'm wondering if I should start putting her to bed later, maybe closer to 8pm. I feel like that's so late for a 3 year old. She does still nap (usually) for an hour in the afternoon from 130-230. My biggest fear is that she will get over tired and start getting up really early again. ( That was an issue for a while.)

So what time does your 3 year old go to bed? Is 8pm normal for a 3 year old?
