I feel you!! My almost 5 month old has been going to bed at 6.30pm for a few weeks now and pushes for an even earlier bedtime most nights. She wakes up once in the night to feed and then is rarely up before 8am so she obviously just needs the sleep!

@Anagram: I am running into the same problem with LO's bedtime / my husband's job. I am trying the 2-3-4 thing today (she is 7.5 months) to see how it goes, because her sleep has been weird lately.
But if she goes to bed before 6:40 (usual bedtime is 7:00) she won't get to see him at all. And he won't get to see her except on weekends! Such a bummer!

I might just have to keep letting her take a little cat nap so that he can see her. He kind of gets depressed when he misses her every single day. :(

Sometimes you just need to go to bed a little earlier! DS has had many days where he goes to bed an hour earlier and still manages to sleep until the same time in the morning.

@Anagram: Same.

She takes two naps a day, but they are long (about 2 hours). She can't be up for more than 2 hours in the morning (really 1.5 hours) and midday, but she makes it okay from 4 - 7:30. But she does do a lot of eating (cluster feeding at the boob and now some solids) at that time...

@QBbride: she's also doing two longer naps and a short cat nap around 4:30-5 pm. The few times she hasn't gotten that nap, she's been in bed at 6 or 6:30. Our LO just can't stay awake more than 2 or MAYBE 2.5 hours.

But I understand about your husband's job. Mine doesn't get home until 6:30 or later so I also feel like the second he walks in the door he changes our of work clothes and then we have to start the bath. =(

@QBbride: yeah the alone time is in the morning instead haha. I'm scared to try and alter her bedtime because she sleeps so well worth just one wakeup usually between 6:30 and 9 (used to be later but lately is earlier) to nurse. I will nurse her to sleep during that wakeup and then have time alone to get lots of stuff done and pump, etc.

@QBbride: I say try it! My LO did that for 2 months, then around 8 went to a 3 - 3 -4.5 ish and then at 11 months started transitioning to one nap (BOO!). My husband fortunately had the flexibility to go in earlier for a while and come home earlier, it's hard though!

@dreamocracy: wow! That's crazy. It would be difficult not having alone time in the evenings but the sleep ins would be awesome!

@scg00387: I'm going to try a loose 2-3-4 schedule depending on his sleep cues and see what happens. I shouldn't complain about a 6pm bedtime but my husband doesn't even get home from work till 5! So then we would start the bedtime routine pretty much right away. Plus, I miss my baby when he's sleeping! He's so much fun to be around :)

@QBbride: that's also the time when my LO went to 2 naps. In the beginning, he went to bed so early, like asleep by 6 PM, but it slowly moved back. Until we transitioned to one nap, and then it was 6 PM again and it's slowly moving back :)

@QBbride: Yes!!! I think your schedule from today looks awesome! For a lot of people, a 2-3-4 schedule works well. For my LO, we were more like 3-3-2.5 because he needed more awake time in the morning to nap better. Basically, you should aim to have about 8-9 hours of awake time at that age.

@Anagram: thanks! I think he was going to bed closer to 7:30 when he was 5 months. How many naps does your DD have in a day?

@Sammyfab: Thanks! My DS normally starts having meltdowns by the 2 hour mark, but over the past few days he's been awake for more like 3 hours at a time... so maybe he is transitioning from 3 to 2 naps.

Just when you have then figured out, they change on you!

This was his schedule today:
6:20am - awake
8:30am - first nap
10:00am - awake
1:15pm - 2nd nap, asleep in car (tired awhile before this though)
2:45pm - awake
6:15pm - asleep

My LO transitioned from 3 to 2 naps around 6-6.5 months and he regularly went to bed between 5:45 and 6:30 (usually closer to 6). Since you're transitioning naps, just make sure you're stretching the time between wake up, naps and bedtime to 2.5-3+ hours because if he isn't getting enough awake time during the day, he will definitely be waking up super early in the morning!

As the title says, what time does your 6-month-old go to bed? We have been starting our bedtime routine at 6:15ish and DS is asleep by 7. He's been having 2 good naps and 1 catnap, but he's really been fighting the catnap recently. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to just put him to bed earlier? I'm not worried about him sleeping through the night (since he doesnt yet anyway) but I really don't want him waking up at 4am.

He was exhausted so I bathed him at 5:30pm and he was asleep by 6:15pm. It seems soo early!

Thanks!
