i'm going to do a morning party for her 2nd birthday. she naps too late and most of her friends do 1 nap midday so i know it will work for the majority. our neighbors did a brunch party and i think we'll do the same!

I think either early morning before the nap or late afternoon after the nap is the best. We are doing my 2 year old's party at 4 pm in December. I know that's a good time because we do play dates then and all the kids are done with their naps. It is a home party so that gives me all day to prep. I would be too pressed for time with a morning party.

10:30 is great for a 2yo party. Most 2 yo I know nap 1-3 so I feel like a party in the afternoon needs to be 330 or 4.

I think we're going to do 3pm. I'd be stressed with morning time party.

All of our friends have kids and that's who we invite, and it ends up being a big social/happy hour for the parents while the kids run around...We have a little open bar and food, so pm works in our little social circle. Although I won't get to party down like I did last year:)

I would say 3 pm. We go to the gym every morning and run errands during that time.

@rachiecakes: Ditto; I hate morning parties and events for this reason. I get up early and run all week, I don't want to do that on the weekend too. That said, I'd do it for my LO's friend's party, I would just grumble to myself about it :silly:

Our party was at 2pm, which gave me the entire morning to set up, make food, prep, etc. and it was done in time to have a real evening.

Are most the guests kids or adults? If kids I think morning is great! Lo is only 6 months but our mornings are more predictable and easier to make plans. If adults, afternoon probably better

If I were going to do a morning party, I'd do a real morning party (like, 9). My almost 2-year-old naps around 11:30/noon and so do most of his friends, so attitudes wouldn't be very good at that time. But I know other 2 year-olds nap around 1/2, so then a morning party makes sense.

I'd prefer an afternoon party in general, though.

we did 10:30 this weekend for LO's party and I heard from so many people how much they liked the timing. AFternoon is tough because of kids' naps.

I'm the minority - I get up and out of the house early every single day. I use my weekend mornings to take a long shower and have breakfast with my family (only meal of the week we get to have together). I prefer an afternoon party.
But I'd still go to the morning one! :)

I'd love you! We have so many parties that start at 2pm and it's right in the middle of LO's nap. We usually have to skip his nap and he gets cranky. Morning parties are my favorite!

We're doing 3pm so that everyone has napped and has time to wake up and get over to ours without rushing. That's the plan anyway. We will finish at 5pm. Last year we did a morning party and I was so stressed out running around fixing decorations etc before everyone got here. Never again!

We did 10 am and had a great turnout! We ended up doing brunch style food. All the kids were in good moods. I know my son takes a while to wake up and not be grumpy from his nap but he is an early bird that is happiest in the morning.

We did an afternoon start time for our LO's birthday party. One of his cousins is a year older than him, so they're both on a napping schedule. All of the kids were well rested for the fun.

We're doing his baptism at 11am because of the church. We're planning on him being napless for that which should be interesting. Then an early bedtime to compensate it.

DD is turning 2 in December. Her party starts at 10! I think morning parties are the best so that way people can still do other things and the kids get to go home in time for their nap.

My lo turns two in Dec and we are trying to decide on the start time for his birthday.
Last year, it was at 4 and many guests didn't come because of work Christmas parties and the threat of bad weather.

This year, I was thinking 10:30 would be great so that everything is wrapped up by the evening and and people can go to company parties etc, and I can also go out to celebrate my own birthday that night.

My hubs says a morning party is "weird" and suggests 2pm. I feel like we wouldn't be finished until 5ish and I'll be exhausted.

Thoughts? Would you attend a morning party on a Saturday?
