We're thinking 4:00 pm because it'll give us time for prep without stressing and the weather's usually *fingers crossed* so nice during the evening that time of the year (sun doesn't go down until late at night).

@mediagirl: nope! When we do family BBQs it's usually around 3-4pm. Old people like to eat early. :P

@mediagirl: Maybe you could do lighter fare instead? We're also doing 3, but we'll have snack type foods mostly. Veggies, fruit, dips, finger sandwiches, and cake.

I'm considering doing 3pm but, is that an awkward time for eating? We're doing a cookout with burgers, dogs, sausages and all the sides. Is that too much for that time of day or will people adjust as needed?

We scheduled for 11, and it worked out perfectly. He woke up from his nap as guests started to arrive. He did get over tired towards the end and took his second nap while a few guests were still around.

4 pm. We scheduled it so that he'd have been awake from his 2nd nap for at least 30 min and so that it would be over by bedtime. It worked out perfectly.

4 p.m. because that's the time the venue was available. I was worried because LO is usually asleep at that time but she was barely slept that day. The time worked out well for us.

Ours was at 4pm because my LO usually woke up from his nap at 3:30/4. I didn't want a midday party because I didn't like the idea of putting him down for a nap while everyone was still there. Putting him down for bedtime in the middle of commotion is way easier.

@mediagirl: bc a lot of our babies are the same age!

1pm. :) Bc she typically afternoon naps around 2 so I thought she can mingle beforehand and take a nap while everyone is eating. In retrospect she did not nap at all so it didn't matter!

11:30, so I voted 11....

Edit: yup, the timing was perfect. Although my son didn't nap, but it didn't affect his sleep later on.

We are doing it at 3 because:

- my son naps 9-10:30 and 2-3 (give or take)

- he goes to bed at 7:30

- we are having it at my sister's. her kids nap 12-2 ish. also, we have toddler friends who nap 1-3ish.

1:30pm. I know all of the babies who were coming would be fine with this time since we've had get togethers at that time. LO usually woke up from her nap before 2pm, so i kept that in mind.

I offered lunch, and i think this time worked because most left by 4pm. I liked doing it in the afternoon because LO was in a great mood! Plus, the morning gave me time to get a lot of stuff done. I'd be more stressed if i had it in the morning.

we haven't had the party yet (just extended family invited), but LO is up between 11:30 and 3pm these days, so we are inviting everyone over around then for lunch, cake, and hanging out :)
we live in a tiny place, so it'll be nice and crowded, just the way a party should be :).

I know there are a ton of questions on here about first birthday party times so please don't shoot me for another one. :) I'm just curious what time your lo's party was or what time it is planned for. If it has already passed, did the time work for you/your lo? What would you do differently with timing?

The poll allows you to vote more than once in case you had more than one party!
