@ShootingStar: That's interesting, I'll have to try the oatmeal and baking soda. Thanks everyone!

For the diaper rash we do Vaseline-like ointment from aden & anais called Mum & Bub and A&D on top of that. The A&D is easily wipe able and provides a barrier on the skin. We also do ground oatmeal and baking soda in the bath.

@Mrs. Bum: My nearly 10-month old twins had a stomach bug last weekend (mostly diarrhea, but some vomiting from my son) so we just went through this. I ended up changing them every time I went in middle of the night to feed them (unfortunately, they do not sleep through the night!). Even though they were having a lot of dirty diapers during the day, they only had one overnight. I still changed them if they were wet because they were pretty red and irritated from all the pooping. My kids were not eating well in addition to the poop/vomit so we were doing pedialyte for my son and really on the look out for dehydration. The nurse at our ped's office mentioned that one sign was dry diapers when you'd expect them to be wet. So if your daughter's diaper was really dry, I might try to do a couple dream feeds to see if you can get some fluids into her. Then you can do the sniff test and see if she needs a change at the time too? I hope she's feeling better soon. It's awful to see these little ones sick!

I just got her back up to give her a bottle because now I'm thinking about the dehydration issue. Changed her and she was dry for once...

How much does she normally get up at night? We had a horrible diaper rash a few months ago and I just did a sniff test at night when she would normally get up to see if she had pooped. I tried to give her some diaper-free time, but it still took about four days for it to heal completely.

@Mrs. Bum: Mrs. Wagon had a great writeup of how she treated diaper rash!!

Lo is fast asleep on me right now but has had diarrhea all day. More watery than poopy. From that a bad red rash has begun and so every changing is her screaming. Next changing I'm going to use a warm rag in place of wipes. But question is how much should I wake her tonight? It's been a long day she had an appointment with a doctor and didn't nap more than 2 hours so I think she's probably going to be out for the night. She's 10 months. Suggestions~
