@cranberryapple: I'm glad I'm not the only one! I made the mistake of mentioning it to my Dr. too, now every time I see her she brings it up and I TOTALLY lie about it too! She totally tried to make me feel guilty about it when I told her! I don't bring it up with anyone either.

I actually had him sleeping on his belly in his stroller the other day and was totally paranoid that someone would notice and stop to tell me off! :(

@Penny Lane: I've let DS sleep on his tummy since Week 4 as well, and we brought it up with our pediatrician and she told us that was a big no no, but we continued to do it anyway. Then on our 2 month appointment when she asked whether he was sleeping on his back, we LIED and said "yes." OMG! I rarely ever lie, and for this, we did! We're too ashamed!! DH always gives me a look whenever I mention to others that we let DS sleep on his tummy. I just don't bring it up anymore! It's so taboo!

Tyler knows how to roll belly to back but I haven't seen him do it in about 2 weeks. Everytime I put him down for sleep on his back he rolls to his belly and sleeps there. But he can do baby pushups and turns his head side to side no problem so I try not to worry about it.

At 4 months, she's strong enough where I don't think it's an issue. She'll be ok : )

I know, it's so scary when they start to belly sleep! I brought it up to my ped b/c I was waking L up to turn her over, and she told me to just leave her be and just make sure there are no blankets or loose fabrics in the crib. I think once they start rolling over, there isn't much you can do...

If only they knew how much grief they were putting their mommies through :( Sigh.

My son could pick up his head and turn it from side to side while on his belly from day one. He also HATES lying flat on his back, he even freaks out while we're changing his diaper. So (bad mum of the year award) he's been belly sleeping since about 4 weeks :-o

There was a week where my daughter started refusing to sleep in her crib. The second I would put her down she would yell at the top of her lungs... then I figured... but she sleeps wonderfully tummy to tummy with me - so how about I just lay her on her tummy.

She hadnt rolled over - in fact she still doesnt - on her own and she is 6 months. I laid her on her tummy anyways in her crib :-/. She slept WONDERFULLY.
That first week I didnt get much sleep because I kept checking on her. Its been about a month and I still check on her... but there has been a couple times where I find her on her back! so that little trickster DOES know how to roll she just doesnt do it for US!

@mrs. wagon: she does seem much less congested on her belly than on her back.... It's so scary, though!! Sigh, she has no idea what she's putting her mom through. Already.

My opinion is that if they can lift up their head and turn it from one side to another, then they're ready to sleep on their belly. Wagon Jr. has been a belly sleeper since the day he could roll onto it! Solved so many problems (snots fall out on their own, digestion, poops don't get smashed up their backs, etc)

My daughter has me freaking out every night. She insists on sleeping on her belly, yet she doesn't know how to roll from her belly to her back yet. At least she hasn't proven that she will do it. Any suggestions on what we should do? I put her on her back, she flips right back over and jams her thumb in her mouth. She seems like she can breathe okay and she doesn't often wake up fussing to have us roll her over....

Is there really anything we CAN do now? She's 4 months old.
