I always give her two options. She can pick one of the two things I picked, or I'll do it for her. She seems to enjoy having that freedom.

@travelgirl1: When A starts with her tantrum I start to ask her questions (yes or no) and that usually helps with the swatting but if I'm not fast enough everyone better watch out.

Maybe that might work for your LO

@bunnylove08: I seriously hope it goes away soon. Sometimes I wonder whether it's something I did, she's my first very, very longed for baby, and maybe I spoilt her and let her get away with too much. But the other part of me thinks it's totally normal and she'll get over it. She thinks it's hilarious when I tell her off too. The one thing I'm worried about is the biting.

@MrsTiger: @travelgirl1: Thanks. It always feels nice when you have others who are going through the same thing.

travelgirl1: DD swats when she is really upset.

so when does this go away? I'm afraid I'm going to raise a brat

Omg, we have got some serious 17-month-old attitude going in here too. In our case it's biting, I can handle the tantrums (she learned the word "no" overnight, you can guess how much fun it's been) but I have got to stop her biting and every time I think a method is working she starts doing it again! Sorry, I don't have any advice but wanted to commiserate with you!

17 months was when we were experiencing crazy out of control tantrums over EVERYTHING. So bad that we had a serious talk about possibly not having another LO because we didn't know it would be like that.

2 months later (now) she still gets set off about certain things but since she has more words its way way better than it was and she seems to be more open to rules / reasoning already.

No real advice but just know it will get better!

@autumnlove: She asks for her minnie socks specifically. I end up telling her they went to sleep and I grabbed socks and put them on when her cousin was distracting her.

I also found out that she likes pink and floral dresses because it looks like her baby and we dont have to deal with the pants issue.

Maybe removing that trigger will help? Move the hamper and hide the socks?

My LO is exhausting in the morning but lately she has been better, She wants to get dressed and ready so she can pick out baby's sisters clothes for the day. :P

Good luck!

My DD is 17 months old. She is usually a pleasant child. She will put away her toys, sing songs, share her food with us but lately she has been throwing these insane tantrums.

She refuses to get dressed in the morning and when she does she wants to pick out her own clothes and her disgusting minnie socks shes worn the previous day (yes i need to buy a million more pairs of these socks). Getting her to put on socks or pants is a struggle. She will cry and cry and distractions do not help.

When she is with her cousin (21 months) she will scream at the top of her lungs when he touches her things. I can usually distract him with something else and DD will run to the toy and "protect" it by picking it up or sitting on it. How do I avoid these things? She usually shares with everyone else but when it comes to her cousin its like sibling rivalry.

Someone please help me! Any advice would be appreciated
