I stopped playing/lingering. I just dropped him off and moved forward. After a couple days the anxiety stopped. It was heart breaking to hear him crying when I walked away, but it ended, quickly. I know how tough it is!

DD went through this several times. One of the things that helped us was to have her watch us walk away from the living room window. We'd make silly faces, blow her kisses, and act goofy and she started thinking drop off was fun instead of scary.

Oh no. I don't have any advice but posts like this strike fear in my heart for the day this happens to us. :-( I hope he gets through this phase quickly.

I'm hoping you guys might have some ideas for me. Little M turned 13 months this week and all of a sudden over the past week daycare drop-off has become a huge ordeal. He clings to me with a death grip and wails. It absolutely breaks my heart. Just two weeks ago he was content to squirm out of my arms and crawl off to play with his favorite toys. He's been going here since he was 12w old, is one of only 5 babies and is well cared for. He adores his daycare provider and her family - his fifth word was her son's name!

I understand that separation anxiety comes and goes as they get older, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to make this easier for the both of us. What should I do at drop-off? I stay and play for a few minutes, what else can I do? Please tell me I'm not the only one going through this!
