@blackbird: I agree, ice works better for my back than heat does.

I agree with @Mrs. Jump Rope! My back had once completely seized up and i decided to go to hot yoga. It helped quite a bit!

If it's inflamed, i'd do ice instead of heat. You can alternate between ice and heat if you'd like.

Hope you feel better soon!

@mrsjyw: this will sound counter productive, but yoga. I found a video on demand. It's like 8 mins long and does the sun salutations and girl, I am telling you, that ish made my back feel fabulous.

I followed up by alternating heat and ice & was as good as new the next day. Yoga alone works wonders, too.

I love my microwavable heating pad for back aches. However, lower back pain has become more of a persistent thing for me, so I recently got a foam roller. I've only been using it for about a week so far, but I have noticed a difference.

I have lots of lower back problems, so I'm always dealing with or trying to prevent back pain. If it's just a one time thing, I agree with PPs, take an anti-inflammatory and use a heating pad. If it persists, try walking around a little more, especially if you sit a lot. Whenever you bend over, try to remember to tighten your core first.

Definitely try a heating pad. And an anti-inflammatory. Motrin is best, but I can't take Motrin so Aleve works for me. Feel better! Back pain is the pits.

If you're WFH today, I'd lay down on top of a heating pad, with the heat right where it hurts. Or take a long shower and let the water hit your back where it hurts - those help me when I have back pain.

Also try slowly stretching a bunch; that seems to help me too. Otherwise, Motrin is pretty good. Good luck!

I have no idea where it came from, but when I got into bed last night, my lower back was hurting to the point where it kept me up for an hour+.... aching, tender, etc.

It woke me up in the MOTN too ACK! :bummed:

I'm wearing an old pp belly bandit, and that seems to be helping, but OMG how do I make this pain go away?
