If it were me I'd make it a dance party theme, or kid's disco, something like that. Are you friends with any musicians that would play? I would totally dance by the way, got no qualms about that (even as an adult) :)

@regberadaisy: I can pretty much bring in anything that won't damage the floors :) Fairy houses are cute!

Do you think they will let you bring in (washable) paint? What about letting each kid paint a "fairy house"? You might be able to find cheap birdhouse online? To tie into the tinker bell theme? And that can be their take home favor? A fairy (bird)house?

@regberadaisy: I think that would be fine if it was just the parents of the toddlers, but there will be a lot of my family there, so it would have to be something where we divided the room in some way.

@mrsjazz: haha I know there are dance studios with toddler classes and one of the first classes are like a "Free dance" so that's what I was thinking. It's basiclally a bunch of toddler running around pretending to do ballet.

@Pancakes: great ideas. props could be good. I was thinking of giving the little kiddies fairy wings, maybe I could have a fairy wings decorating station?

@regberadaisy: not possible, but a great idea. I think it would be a bit awkward, too, for the adults to watch the kids get a dance lesson.

Since it's a dance studio is there an opportunity to hire one of the instructors for 30 minutes for a toddler dance session?

There's a yoga studio near us that does birthday parties and one of the options is just to have sort of open studio with props--think hula hoops, balloons, a tunnel to crawl through, etc. They lay out a picnic blanket for the kids to have snack and cake on. The kids just basically run around and play but you could probably plan a game or two if you wanted some structure.

LO's 2nd birthday party was just family in our small apartment last year. It felt overwhelming having the 3 of us + 7 family members.

I have the opportunity to rent a dance studio that is 16 x 31 at a super duper cheap rate. We'd bring in food and decorations, etc. LO doesn't have that many friends since she's not in daycare/pre-school, so I think there are 5 kids invited and a total of around 15-18 people who will be in the space.

I'm trying to figure out how to set up the space and what kind of activities to have for the kiddies who come. I was thinking about having LOs favorite sing-along lady come but that seems like a lot for 5 kids. There will be more adults because our families will be there, too. LO is into Tinkerbell right now so that's the theme I'm thinking about doing. The party will probably be about 2-3 hours. I also don't want to spend a ton of money. Any suggestions?
