The Santa Barbara Zoo is really cute and do-able in an hour or so. Maybe not as fun without baby but it's pretty there, you can pack a meal and do a picnic! The Palace is super good for lunch or dinner. Try The Habit for a great hamburger and/or a shake!

Just saw this- but whale watching on the Condor Express was one of the coolest experiences of my life! We were in the middle of like 2,000 dolphins, it was amazing! We also saw several humpback whales.

@daniellemybelle: I'm glad you are having fun. It's a beautiful town. I'm a little biased since we moved here.

Thanks everyone! Sorry I am just now getting back to this thread. Tagging all of you instead of replying individually. @Anagram: @Mrs. High Heels: @brownie: @birdofafeather: @Mrs Green Grass: @Mrs.Pinecone316: @gracecat: @HabesBabe: @rrachael: @sweetooth: @MoonMoon:

Unfortunately we can't go to Solvang or any of the nearby towns because we don't have a car. We did go to the Funk Zone / Urban Wine Trail today & it was nice!

We walked around State Street and went up to Stearns Wharf today, too. It was so beautiful! Tomorrow I think we are going to hit up the Mission and go to the beach. Right now DH is napping & I'm pumping ;)

Thanks for all the restaurant recommendations, too! We are definitely going to go to some of those!!! DH made a rez at Toma - is that any good? (Unless it's terrible we'll go because he made the effort, haha.)

We used to drive from LA to Santa Barbara to eat at Tupelo Junction Cafe on State Street. We had some great meals there...

Santa Barbara and the wine towns just north are some of my favorite places. It's awesome up there! If you have time to drive to Los Olivos, there is a lot of wine, yummy lunch spots and cute shops. One tasting room even pairs cupcakes with their wines ~ Sarloos and Sons.
If you are staying in sb ... Milk and honey is super cute for happy hour and French Press is a great coffee shop! There are lots of shops along state street and the surrounding streets are fun to just explore. Have fun!!! :)

I love Solvang! We spend all of our anniversaries there and it's perfect for a day trip. If you can, I'd swing by Cold Spring Tavern on the 154 on the way to/from Solvang. On the weekends, they have an outdoor BBQ and make the best tri tip sandwiches ever! It was featured on Food Network's "Best Thing I Ever Ate."

I'd go to Santa Ynez and go wine tasting! There's also a cute breakfast where you can have your feet in the sand while you eat. I think it's Shoreline Cafe...I'll look it up.

Oh sad, you just missed fiesta (old spanish days), it was last week. Going up to Solvang (about an hour north) or los olivos for wine tasting is fun. In Santa Barbara, just hanging out on State Street is fun. There are a ton of shops, restaurants, clubs and bars all up and down the street. There is also the old buildings of downtown Santa Barbara and the Presidio. We just went up to the bell tower of the courthouse this weekend and that was interesting. There is a nice wharf to hang out on with some touristy things. The beaches are fantastic of course. At this point, we don't get to do too much in the way of adult things and I know a lot more about what is going on for kiddos.

One yummy restaurant downtown is Il'Cadario it is amazing. But there is so much good food here. The weather is great just to walk around.

What do you like to do?

Mission Santa Barbara is worth seeing, and it's fun to walk along state street for shopping and eating. The pier/riverfront is also nice and has some good restaurants!

The town of Santa Barbara is super cute and there's a mission on one side that you can go in--there are also vinyards in the surrounding areas if you want to explore those, and good restaurants.

I've only driven through on Highway 1 excursions and stopped for lunch or dinner, but I remember it being really nice.

So in between crying jags about leaving LO, I am getting excited about our first grown up trip! We are going to a wedding in Santa Barbara this weekend. DH is a groomsman & it's adults only, so we didn't really have a choice but to leave LO with her grandparents. So we decided if we had to fork out for cross country airfare, we might as well stay a couple extra days to make it a much-needed getaway.

So what should we do, CA bees? We are going to do a lot of sleeping and hanging out on the beach of course!
