Great Falls NP is really great scenery and easy to walk, push a stroller. There was an amazing playground near Langley, I don't recall the name though. (We're not local either, we visit friends there occasionally).

ETA: the playground is Clemyjontri Park.

@extrasprinkles: northern VA has a lot of great parks/playgrounds! I am not sure exactly how far some of these are fromReston and whether they all hit the 20 minute drive mark but some ideas include: Frying Pan Farm park (a farm!), Burke Lake park (carousel and train to ride), Clemyjontri (huge/accessible playground with carousel- in McLean so may be a bit further). Meadowlark Botanical Gardens is nearby which is nice too. And Reston Town Center has lots of shops/places to eat. That exhausts my knowledge of the area (I live in a different part of NoVa) but hopefully some other local Bees can help too!

DH and I will be traveling to the Northern Virginia/DC area next month with our 14 month old. For a whole slew of reasons, we'll be spending our weekdays in suburbia with a home base in Reston. Does anyone have any recommendations for fun places to take our semi-walking little guy?

We'll have a car and our LO can probably/hopefully handle car rides of 20 minutes or so. Playground, park, amazing library, cool indoor space, we're open to all of it. We're not very familiar with the area at all - everything is just a new name on a map to us at this point!

Thank you!!
