At that age, I always tried to extend it to an hour... not always successfully, but it was easier back then when babies are less aware! But then again, I don't have a toddler to handle, so I can only imagine how much harder it is to enforce baby naps!!

@BeachMama: My 6 week old does this sometimes and I try and get her back down again for 1 to 1.5 hrs total. I am probably successful 70% of the time but sometimes I just have to give up on that nap happening. The more sleep she gets during the day the better she seems to do at night

Yep, I would try to extend for an hour total at least.

DS is 10 weeks and has really crappy naps. Granted, some of it (or most of it) is maybe my fault for having an inconsistent schedule, letting him get overtired, etc. It's really difficult for me to track his awake times and enforce naps when also caring for my 3 year old, taking her to/from school, doing household stuff, etc.

That being said, when he wakes after 20-30 min should I try to get him asleep again? Or just let him be? Most of the time he doesn't cry, he's just kicking around in the crib.
