My niece had a receiving blanket that was a lovey, and I redid the edging like Blackbird suggested.

But it was so old it still ended up ripping in half. It led to the end of her having a lovey (but she's older, so it's about time anyway)

She tried carrying another blanket for a little while, but since it wasn't the same she just gave up.

@blackbird: A frame of fabric around it is a great idea - thanks!!

Can you fold it over on itself to patch it together? It'll be smaller but the same. My lovey is also a blanket and the edges got really bad, so my mom basically added a quilter's frame of fabric to it. One thing we do is give E two blankets, so maybe sneak the second blanket into her bed and eventually she'll take to it in conjunction with the old one?

My daughter has an A&A lovey that she adores. Two nights ago she woke up sobbing at 4 am for no reason, and the only thing that got her back down was her lovey. We got her a new lovey (exact same design), but it's just not the same to her.

Anyway the old lovey is totally falling apart and has huge holes in it. I think its days as a working lovey are behind it... but I'd love to find a way to reuse/recycle the fabric to make something, so that she could still have it in her life!

Running short on ideas for what to turn it into though... any ideas for what to do with a lovey A&A blanket that's falling apart?
