Update: Contractors have been in and out since Thursday and I've been putting her in our room whenever we go out (pup is in his cage in our room when I go out, no matter what). So far it's ok, she probably get's a bit annoyed in there, but I'd rather that then have her get out! Whenever they come and go they leave the door WIDE open and sometimes when they finally close it, it doesn't latch and blows open! Can't wait for them to be done :)

I totally understand... I only trust my mom with my pug! I would either put her in your bedroom (and leave the radio/TV on so she doesn't know what she's missing out there :) ) or put up a baby gate if your floor plan allows for it so she can have semi-run of the house without access to the door.

I definitely would keep them confined to at least a room while out- for doggie safety and for liability reasons.

@Dandelion: no! :( I only leave them with family usually, and they are 3 hours away. Friends all work/my dogs are pains in the butt so I wouldn't want to burden anyone!! haha. I think putting them i the bedroom will work out ok.. fingers crossed.

Thanks all! I just went out quick to get the mail and put her in our room. She seemed fine! She is lazy so hopefully she just slept! There is a day care in town, but she is way to little to go. She would hate hate hate it. Our big dog would like it, so I might send him if there's a day he'd have to be locked up for a long time.

I would definitely do a crate, dog daycare, or stick her in your room.

We had this same situation recently, and even when I asked if our cat needed to be put away (they said no), they let him out in the freezing weather for over an hour. Even though they say they'll be careful, it's not their job to watch out for pets, and I think it gets overlooked.

I have little dogs too. I just dont trust people with my fur kids. Unless they are family or friends. I would put in your room for sure.

We kept our dogs crated when we had contractors in do remodel our bathrooms. They were fine. The contractors said they were quiet and content to watch.

Is there a doggy day care that she would like? Otherwise, I would definitely leave her in the bedroom for her safety and peace of mind.

We are having our basement finished finally! The drywalling is happening over the next couple of weeks. I work from home but am in and out a lot.

I'm nervous about the dogs! The one is a pup so when I go out, he will be in his cage in our bedroom. The other usually just wanders the house. The guys coming said it was fine and they'd make sure she didn't get out.. but that's making me nervous! She's only 4 pounds and so little.. she could totally make a run for it if she wanted and they might not notice!

Should I just stick her in our bedroom for the days when I'm out and she can be a little drama-dog in there and feel sorry for herself? What would you do?
