Like others said, I would keep them in my closet in a box until after LO was born. I've had people give me hand me downs for LO and request them back when we're finished with them. I do the same thing in that situation. It also makes it easier just to give everything back all at once.

@Sweet T: @Cchoi4: I like SweetT's idea :) My sister gave me a lot of clothes, too, but they had been through three pregnancies and some weren't holding up so well. Luckily, she is not having anymore kids so she wasn't so worried about what happened to them when I was through with them.

I would just give them back. It's her issue if she decides to get offended.

Or, you could offer to just donate them yourself?

I wouldn't say anything. If she lives out of town, will she ever find out how much or little you wear any of the clothes?

I had several friends lend me stuff, and some weren't my style or fit me correctly. I just kept them in the closet and now they are in bags to give back along with the clothes I do like.

She isn't going to see you everyday so she won't know that you don't wear some of them.

I would probably just hold onto them until after I gave birth. Then you could give them back and it wouldn't be a big deal either way. I agree with OP too. You could just tell her that they didn't fit.

Hmm, do you think there's a way you could frame it so it wouldn't hurt her feelings? (Ex: it's too small)

My sister in law (who lives in another state) just brought me a bag of maternity clothes. We have received most of our LO's toys & books and a fair amount of LO's clothes from her, which has saved us a lot of $$.

I went through the bag and picked out some things that fit and I was comfortable wearing. However, the majority of the bag was filled with clothes that either don't look good on my body type (i.e. capped sleeve shirts for my broad shoulders) or things that aren't my style. I probably won't ever wear them but feel bad giving them back to my SIL.

She did mention that whatever I didn't take, she would consign them in her town. I guess I'd just feel bad for giving her back 90% of the clothes...

how would you handle this?
