@Anagram: yep I totally agree with this. It's all about how your body handles your daily diet. Unless for the rest of your pregnancy you want to eat hard boiled eggs every morning :P You want an accurate result; there's no sense in trying to "trick" the test by altering your daily routine. If you are a carby-eater that's fine; you need to know how your body is handling those carbs.

I've always just had eggs for breakfast and then brought some fruit to have right after the test because the sugar crash makes me feel pretty terrible.

Doc told me protein is usually good. So, I had whole grain toast with PB. It was fine.

I always read that eating protein, like eggs, cheese, etc the night before would help to give you accurate results. As a person who had GD with my last pregnancy, and I was really upset at first, I am sort of glad that I didn't try to "trick" the test because in the end, the diet and all the extra precautions were in the best interest of my baby and myself. But I totally get the fear of failing and what that means. Good luck!

I have mine on Friday! With DD1, I did eat some carbs combined with protein and passed with no problem. With this baby, I've been told (not specifically by my OB) that eggs are a good choice so I'm going to try to get up early enough to scramble some with a little sausage.

The other thing is with my appointments being so early, I'm also planning to be careful and not eat a lot of sweets the night before (so not cooking pasta or eating one of the cupcakes I baked last night, haha).

I know they say it doesn't matter too much what you eat because your body will do what it wants, but at least this way if I fail I'll know that I really failed and not blame my previous meals!

Good luck tomorrow! :goodluck:

Eh, both pregnancies I had a late appointment for the 1 hour test (like 6 pm), so I had a snack at about 4 pm of cereal and milk. So.....kinda high in sugar. And I passed both times.

I think it's best to just eat what you normally eat and see those results--if you eat eggs every morning for breakfast, then go ahead. If you eat a bagel, eat a bagel.

The test is telling you how your body is reacting to your bagel. If you eat the bagel every day, eat it on the day of the test. (for example).

I ask for the test to be absolutely first thing in the morning and I go in with an empty stomach. I've done the 1 and 3 hour tests 6 times.

ETA: Go in armed with a cheese sandwich and orange juice to scarf the MINUTE the test is over.

I have the typical screening tomorrow with the dreaded orange drink and I'm wondering if anyone has any input on what, if anything I should eat before the appointment? My doctor advised against sugary and carb stuff so I'm aware of what to avoid. (hopefully)
