@2PeasinaPod: they didn't do the test but we have been giving her baked goods with eggs and she's been fine.

@LulaBee: Egg is hard since egg is in everything! Did they do the baked good vs. non-baked good testing? Our LO was clear to eat baked goods with egg in it, and if they're not allergic to that protein specifically, they have a better chance of outgrowing the allergy altogether.

@2PeasinaPod: no to tree nuts (they tested for 26 things so I don't know if they did specific ones but he said not allergic, so...)

I forgot, she's also allergic to fish (not shellfish). We are vegetarian so won't run across it at home but it's important to remember.

I'm glad your oldest grew out of his egg allergy, that gives me hope!

@LulaBee: The waiting was definitely the hardest part! Glad it's only eggs and banana. Those are two that are common to grow out of. Did you happen to test for any tree nut allergies or shellfish allergies as well?

Our oldest had an egg allergy and a tree nut allergy. He's grown out of his egg allergy, and the blood test showed only cashews and pistachios as his tree nut allergies. I don't think he'll grow out of those, but it's much better knowing than having an issue arise later.

Update: She does NOT have peanut or sesame allergies (thank goodness!). She does have egg and banana. We will be doing bloodwork so allergist can check severity. He said banana allergies are very rare but it's possible she could grow out of both.

She did great with the skin test, it's just all of the waiting that was hard.

@Adira: She had her 19 month checkup the other day and the ped said since she has multiple food allergies (and we question a false positive of blood test regarding peanuts) we should see allergist.

@LulaBee: Curious why you are being referred to an allergist.

For both my kids, they had allergic reactions to foods. The only test the allergist did was a skin prick test to confirm that specific allergy. This was at 7 and 8 months.

Mine wasn't too bad. They took a detailed history and then pricked his back with top 12 allergens and then the three the suspected. We waited for awhile and they measured the reaction. Then we got an epipen and an order to get blood work. Overall he was in great spirits.

@LulaBee: Yeah, after I posted, I realized we were actually there much longer. Probably more like 3 hrs. Not sure why I remember it first as being shorter, since the main thing I remember about the visit was how long we were there lol.

@catlady: That sounds like a great visit overall. Glad she didn't have any allergies!

They told us we would be there between 3-4 hours.

We went through this at 14 months and it really wasn't that bad. She had skin tests on both arms (I know sometimes they use the back instead). She didn't seem to be in much pain. The worst part was actually just the wait time, I think in total we were there for like 1.5 hrs. We were lucky and she didn't have any reactions so we haven't had to go back.

My 19 month old is seeing the allergy doc for the first time next Monday- I know they'll be testing for everything while we are there but will she be in a ton of pain? It breaks my heart to think about it but I am looking forward to getting answers regarding some food allergies we don't think she has (peanuts) and hopefully some answers about outgrowing the ones we are certain she has (eggs, bananas, sesame).

Any advice welcome!
