@MrsMccarthy: whatever he will eat! We live by the rule that you can have whatever you want when you're sick. I normally offer soups (broth based), yogurt, jello, fruit and carbs. I love carbs when I'm sick so I offer crackers, bread, rice, pasta when she's sick. I don't worry too much about veggie intake when she's really miserable.

@MrsMccarthy: Glad he's getting something down! I was thinking this morning that pancakes also go over well when E's sick. I make banana pancakes with a scoop or two of peanut butter in the batter for a bit of extra protein.

Bananas, watermelon, yogurt, and applesauce are always successful. Cottage cheese, usually, too.

I let him eat whatever he wants...which is usually crackers, bananas, pasta, cheerios, cereal bars, and soup. I always offer his favorites when sick, too (pasta, meatballs, spinach, salmon).

We end up unintentionally following the BRAT diet. Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. Yogurt. Sometimes mashed sweet potatoes. Cheese if he'll eat it. Basically whatever I can get into him. And as much water as possible. Milk is hit or miss, but I don't force it if he doesn't want it.

I hope he feels better soon!

@MrsMccarthy: If it helps, my LO won't touch food when he's sick. Right now, he's teething and has a nasty cold. He's really only eaten a few things here and there over the course of the last few days. Milk is the only thing that's filling him up, even though it's causing extra phlegm.

I find that soft, cold things help too...kiwi, watermelon (which will give him extra fluids), and toast with butter to give him more calories for now...

Hope your little guy feels better soon!

I try to stay away from dairy when sick because I feel like it increase phlegm...but I might have made that up?
Smoothies are good, you could make them with almond milk, berries, banana, etc.
Soup is nice too, pureed lentil or sweet potato soup maybe?
Honestly, whatever he'll eat is probably fine. I just try to think of things I like to eat when I'm sick- things that feel good if my throat is sore.

My son has a runny nose and sneeze. He has not been eating much as a result. He will eat yogurt and sink water and milk and eat a tiny bit of bread. Any recommendations?
