@PawPrints: still pregnant. I will collect those pampering goodies!

@gingerbebe: open adoption. Mani/pedi gift certificate would be great, she loves them!

Well, I guess it would depend on how your friend has decided to deal/cope with the placement. Is it an open adoption? Will she have a relationship with the baby and the adoptive parents? Or does she want a closed adoption and sort of not have so many reminders of what she's going through??

I feel like in any event, she may want comforting/pampering things so she doesn't have to think so much about day to day stuff while she's coping, like a mani-pedi certificate, or gift certificates to restaurants or grocery stores? Maybe books or an Amazon gift card to get Kindle books?

Is she still pregnant or has she had the baby? If still pregnant (or recently given birth) then all the usual post-birth goodies would be nice, like sitz bath stuff, nursing pads to absorb her milk until it dries up, candy/cookies/snacks, witch hazel, dermoplast (can you mail that?) etc. A card that just says "thinking of you" or similar.

what would you get a friend placing a baby for an adoption? I have a friend out of state and I want to send her a care package. What items would you send? I'm thinking some sort of jewelry should be included.
