If DD us phlegmy I use the saline spray and nose freida her. We have two humidifiers running so the air is not too dry and hopefully she will not suffer from post nasal drip.

LO's cough got so bad Monday night, and she got a fever of 102 that we took her to the ER. Turns out she has RSV (upper respiratory viral infection) & a double ear infection. Nights have been a miserable cycle of getting her to sleep only to have her wake up from her coughing, choking on flem & then throw up from coughing so hard. Dr prescribed antibiotics for her double ear infection & Tylenol as needed for her fever, but her poor voice is so raspy from all her coughing that she barely wants to eat. Hoping the coughing improves quickly, I just hate seeing LO in pain!! Any other mamas ever deal with RSV? How long did the coughing last & did you do anything at night to help them sleep better?

I think you just have to kind of let it run its course and try to keep baby comfortable with a humidifier, nose clear, etc. Incidentally, I just read an article that said cough meds may be unsafe and ineffective for kids up to 6 years old!

My 4 month old just developed a horrible cough today. She coughs in her sleep, I'm surprised she hasn't woken up from it yet! Sounds like some flem in her throat, and she had a bit of a runny nose. If it gets worse ill go to the dr, but in the mean time, im not sure what to do. What did you do, give them any meds or just let it run its course & pray it improves? Thanks!
