after my unplanned c-section... I honestly only wore the hospital gowns because even trying to put on pants seemed like too much effort! I am super short though so the longer ones were practically floor length! I wore one on front ways and one backwards for coverage and then a larger gown as a robe! So I'll be skipping my own clothes except for the pair of yoga pants and t-shirt I'll wear home! Maybe a nursing bra?

Fuzzy Socks or Slippers would be a must... as well as hair ties, brush, my own towel and toiletries. I brought some tinted moisturizer, powder and mascara for visits after baby came and I'll bring those again- also dry shampoo for that time before they let you shower!

Phone/iPad/Kindle/Chargers and Camera too!! And secret chocolate just for you ;)

We left Caroline in hospital clothes and blankets until we left too-- so I'll only be bringing her going home clothes this time! And our choice of bottles and binkies just incase.

I think I might have missed it. Did someone say?

Robe?

I thought having a robe was great! I bought a comfy light weight knee lengthened one and I would wear it when tried to go walking in the hallways. Just to get some fresh air outside of the room.

A breastfeeding pillow! We exclusively formula fesd this time, but I wish I had packed a Boppy or (even better) My Brest Friend pillow to help with feedings. My C-section was unplanned but only 6 weeks ago. I still use the Boppy for feedings since my baby was nearly 10 pounds at birth.

something to drink from. The styrofoam cup with a straw really blew. The first time they gave me a big insulated cup, but not the second time.

These were probably already mentioned up above, but my necessities were pants with NO elastic waist. A robe. Slippers. Make up (weird, i know, but showering and trying to look normal made a world of difference) The second you have your catheter out, stand up! It will suck, but I promise it will be better in the long run. Also, shower as soon as you can. And steal as many mesh undies as you can :)
FWIW, I had a great c section experience. Good luck and congrats! :)

I packed loose-fitting yoga pants, but I did NOT want to wear them after my c-section. I was only comfortable in gowns. Also, slippers/sandals that you can slip right into without any effort or work. You’ll want to get up and moving/walking ASAP – don’t let shoes get in the way of your recovery. A belly binder for sure, although my hospital gave me one, so you might ask yours about their policy on that.

Bring your own pillow! It's nice to have something from home, and a comfy pillow in a soft case. High waisted underpants. I brought a lot of snacks (way more snacks than I needed, in retrospect) and some juice so I wasn't stuck relying on the hospital food.

Definitely face wipes. I cannot say enough, get as many of those mesh undies as they will give you!!! Otherwise, you want underwear that doesn't rest on your incision. Good luck

I only packed nightgowns/dresses since I didn't want to have anything on my scar. I preferred the mesh panties the hospital gave me over underwear because they laid directly on my stitches. They brought me a bucket and washcloth to use that first night after surgery since I couldn't get out of bed, so that was nice, but face wipes would have also been fine. I wish I had had some sort of support band like @Littlebit suggested. It feels so much better to have something press on your abdomen when you stand and walk. Other than that, I can't recall anything different than a normal bag.

My suggestions, drawstring/a size bigger yoga pants. I was in the hospital for 3-4 days (4 with #1, 3 with #2) and I switched to my own clothes the next day (and showered as soon as they took my catheter out.) I wore comfy pants with a nursing tank/cover up or robe, just to feel more like me. I second the face wipes, it's nice to wipe face clean after a day in bed.

My biggest suggestion is get up as soon as possible (like right after catheter comes out) it sucks/it hurts, but I bounced back so quickly because I was up and moving/walking the halls, ect. I showered and used the chair in there when needed, but showering helped me feel better and the walks helped me heal. I would walk around the halls with DH and pushing DD's bassinet. Or when she was in the nursery I would walk to look or to go get my own drink/snack from the hospitality room.

I felt 10 times better when I got out of my gown and into pajamas. I got a cute robe to put over that when I had visitors.

Also, mascara and dry shampoo! Made me feel a little less awful.

Oh and HANDS DOWN my biggest life saver was this belly band thing. I didn't think it would make a difference but it was a game changer.

Personally I liked the mesh undies they give you at the hospital. 10 ft iPhone charger cord, ear plugs and an eye mask to help sleep, flip flops for shower, possibly a bath towel - the hospital ones are small - and fuzzy slipper socks to keep your feet warm. Lip balm and nipple cream. Maybe your own pillow. Nursing tank and zip up hoodie with maternity yoga pants is what I wore home and what I wore in hospital once I felt more human. Lots of spare hair ties. Maybe some crystal light or drink mix drops for when they will only let you have clear liquids. Lotion or hand cream.

I was going to suggest face wipes; I bet I learned that one from @oliviaoblivia:! I was able to take a shower the next day and I had showered that morning, so I didn't need dry shampoo.

I can't really think of anything else. I did have to go out and buy underwear in an even larger size than anticipated, but that wasn't necessary at the hospital. I wanted my undies to be really loose so nothing was rubbing against my incision.

Exciting times!

I've never had a vaginal birth so I'm not sure what you pack for that. I packed all my toiletries and comfortable clothes that wouldn't bother my stitches. I couldn't bathe until the next day so I'm not sure if that changes what you need.
