For DD's birthday at 1 pm last year, I did a CostCo diy sandwich platter with sliced meat/ cheese/ lettuce, popcorn, fruit and veggies. I served chick-fil-a nuggets, chips and guac, hummus and veggies, crackers and pimento cheese, fruit skewers, cookies, and of course, cake! You could do a variety of apps, or pinwheel sandwiches, fruit/veg plate, cheese, etc. You could also do a sandwich spread and people make their own and then have a pasta and green salad available. I think most people will likely have just eaten lunch though, so even just light apps would likely be fine. </p> <p>I always have beer and wine available when I’m hosting, regardless of the type of party. We also have a stocked bar, but I’ve never had anyone ask for a cocktail at a kid’s party. DD's birthday is in the summer so we always have beer on hand for anyone that wants it. People don't go crazy, but grab a bottle if they want one. Not everyone drinks of course, but i remember a few people were happy to have a glass. In addition to sweets, i have fruit, and things like cheese, crackers, pita, hummus/dip, and chips. The party will be from 1-3 so I don't think we need to serve a full lunch. What would you like to eat at a party? There will be around 20 people. It is mostly family and 3 couple friends with young children. And do you serve alcohol at kid bday parties? Punch? </p>
