@SeptMomma12: the one I did yesterday was oatmeal and rice (dry) and I have her measuring cups, wisks, spoons etc to explore. You can also do dry pasta and make a theme, cool spaghetti and let them play with it, cotton balls and muffin tins etc. It's the only thing that entertains her longer than a few minutes these days.

LO is almost 17 months and LOVES his Fisher Price Little People barn. Will spend 20 mins (a lifetime for his attention span!) putting the animals in and out, chatting away to himself, with random animal noises thrown in.

@bao: What's a sensory box? Sounds interesting and I believe our LOs are the same age!

At 20 months she loved simple wood puzzles - and she was obsessed with her alphabet puzzle. She would spend huge chunks of time learning her letters and putting them back.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0077RKXWE

Melissa and Doug have other simple wood puzzles (numbers, trucks, farm animals, safari animals)...they also have the magnet puzzles where you "fish/catch" creatures. She really liked those a lot too.

Around 24 months she graduated to regular puzzles and now at 26 months she spends an hour or so working on her puzzles. So I like that she was exposed to them early and now spends huge chunks of time working on them. We have 2 floor puzzles from costco that she loves and various other smaller puzzles that are 28 pieces which seems perfect for her age.

(Although I do inevitably ending up finding them randomly around the apartment.)

My lo is 20 months and these days she is all about her wheelybug and piano. We also just bought her a stroller for her baby, which she loves!

LO loves playing with buckles and it seems to keep her occupied for a long time. MIL bought a buckleyboo toy for at her house and it keeps her busy and I love that. LO has lots of blocks and books but they only keep her busy for about 5 minutes then we have to fight to pick them up! Colouring books are usually a good one for a change but can't give it too often otherwise she gets bored faster.

Any toy recs for a 20 month old that your LO seems to really enjoy?
